Everyone might find this interesting:

-----------------------------------------
Live 8 line-up 'hideously white'

A campaign group has called the Live 8 London concert "hideously white" for not having enough black performers.
Superstar Mariah Carey is almost the only ethnic minority performer at Hyde Park on 2 July, one of five global Live 8 concerts that day.

London-based group Black Information Link said organisers had "handpicked a virtually all-white line-up".

But a Live 8 spokesman said: "Bob Geldof approached a number of urban and black artists to participate."

He added a number were busy with other projects and commitments.

Artists including 50 Cent, Stevie Wonder and are Jay-Z are among those taking part in the Philadelphia concert.

The concerts aim to raise pressure on world leaders to fight poverty in Africa, echoing Bob Geldof's Live Aid concerts 20 years ago.

LIVE 8 LINE-UP

Who's due to play where
But Patrick Augustus, a black musician and author of BBC drama Babyfather, said black artists had been "totally excluded" from the London concert.

"It seems like the great white man has come to rescue us while the freedom fighters never get a mention," he wrote on the Black Information Link website.

He said Live 8 organisers "need to engage British, African and Jamaican artists who have been dealing with these subjects for a while".

He added: "Where are the reggae artists that have been campaigning for truth and justice over all these years?"

It was the same problem 20 years ago when major black artists were backing singers to other acts
Justin Onyeka, New Nation

Justin Onyeka, entertainment editor at black newspaper New Nation, said he was surprised Band Aid 20 performers Dizzie Rascal, Ms Dynamite, Jamelia and Beverley Knight were not included in the line-up.

"It was the same problem 20 years ago when major black artists were backing singers to other acts," he said. "It's time they learnt from previous experience."

A number of urban acts in the UK are hugely talented but they are not well known in Paris or Rome

The Live 8 spokesman added: "We are not doing a show purely to entertain, we are doing a show to appeal to a mass audience to raise awareness of poverty in Africa.

"We look upon Live 8 as one global concert. A number of urban acts in the UK are hugely talented but they are not well known in Paris or Rome."

Further performers were being asked to participate in addition to those already announced, he said.

Meanwhile Live 8 organisers face a large VAT bill because a portion of the money raised in its text message ticket lottery will be spent organising the event.

Organisers pledged £1.6m to the Princes' Trust charity from money made in a text message ticket competition to win 75,000 pairs of tickets to the London concert.

However they are due to be taxed on the remaining money made from the competition, to be launched on Monday.

The spokesman said: "After the concerts we will start discussions to see if we can get back some of the VAT we were charged. That is what Bob is good at."

--------------------------------------------

There's a bigger issue behind this story and I'm glad someone spoke out against this particular one. Though I'm glad they're doin something, I'm getting irritated of seeing nothing but a sea of white faces in the world of african aid. It's the "White Savior" image all over again. When are more fellow Africans and diasporans going to be in the forefront of humanitarian aid? Or when will the media start giving them the attention?

ABM: Babe. "I'm getting irritated" with Black foks thinking Caucasians can and intend to do anything of consequence to cure their problems. Haven't we seen ENUFF of this over the last +500 years already? Go on and let these silly White foks have their fun. 'Cause this won't do a dayam bit of good for remedying the problems of Africa. THAT's a job for...AFRICANS.

You are CORRECT ABM in that, most of the problems in Africa have been created by Africans and only Africans can solve them. Most of the debt has to be paid to institutions like the World Bank, etc. Money which was lent to African governments and then transfered back via contracts to big multinational companies and their local elite african partners. The poor pay the price through taxation.

Moony,

Perhaps. But I think most smart Black (and non-Black) foks know whether Geldof is/isn't "sincere" is of NO relevence and consequence.

As Anunaki and I have said, these problems must be solved AFRICANS.

PS: Would you even know Geldof's NAME were it not for his 'Feed Africa' efforts? I wouldn't.

Thank you for succinctly stating what all these Western-supported 'Save Africa' efforts are MOSTLY about: "Money which was lent to African governments and then transfered back via contracts to big multinational companies and their local elite african partners."

While I truly don't know Geldof's motives, I respect the fact that at least he seems to give a shyt what happens to people who are suffering so greatly.

I think many Whites are damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

I agree with all of you. These are definitely problmes that need to be solved by Africans. I do, however, believe that once Africans can come to some kind of healthy agreement among themselves, foreign financial and medical aid should definitely be given to assist in the healing/restoration process.

Moon,

I have no doubt that GELDOF's intentions are good. He's a good, good man.

However, this is the perfect example of the WHITE PERSON showing us pictures of WHITES saving Africa...rather than showing us pictures of Africa saving itself.

This has been going on for hundreds of years now. It's like a World Wide WELFARE SYSTEM, whereby the "lazy, psyched out victims" not only are addicted to the cycle---but are CONDITIONED to see themselves as unable to get up on their own. Blacks, IN GENERAL, look to the White Man and the White Woman....as their SAVIORS...and are conditioned to do so.

What is the purpose---when the biggest music acts on earth are Black and Black Music dominates all genres---to have a concert to benefit Africa and then have no Africans in it?

It's for SHOW. To absolve the Whites of the fact that they are the REASON (them the exploiters, slavers and colonists) that AFRICA is on its death bed in the first place. They have been systematically POISONING AFRICA for 500 years.

Until we change the "MIND" and clear the eye-sight of the "BLACK HUMAN BEING" world wide.....there is no way that any amount of foreign financial/medical Material Goods are going to change the downtrodden-ness of Africa one iota.

And for the record--I still say that the Blacks in Africa are much better off than the Blacks in America. Of course, you'd have to live in both places to appreciate what I'm saying.

wow, everythings been said. I guess all that can be said now is the most simplis:their won't be any real progress until blacks/africans start helping each other without the aid of predominately-white nations, like a global version of the village philosophy. Same goes for the other developing societies/diasporas of color.

Moonsigns,

Geldof's sincerity (or lack there of) is irrelevent. A few White men, no matter their intent, are NOT going to rescue Africa. As Kola said, HISTORY proves that to be GROSSLY improbable.

Africa has to get ITS act together FIRST before it can make good use the help of others. Otherwise, history will repeat itself: Whites and a few Africans get enriched, and other 99.99% of Africans get the shaft.

Exactly, ABM.

And let me point out to MOON, that we will only truly be able to have love between White and Black when the two are on Equal Footing as "humans". You don't have to be equally rich, successful or educated to be Equal as humans. But you do have to have separate Self-Determination, Autonomy and Self-Esteem in order to have a healthy relationship with someone else.

This is not the case so far on earth. Whites FINANCE the self-hatred and pitiful desperation of Blacks...not just in Africa, but worldwide. They exploit and CONDITION blacks to act as a kind of "Child group"---dependent on White Mercy and Pity.

and also...

Let me attract you all to a DIFFERENT KIND of "genocide" going on now in Sudan:

Kola,

The 'fun' parts going to be when Africans determine how to exploit its riches for themselves. I can't imagine that Whites/Asians, who've been able to squeeze the continent for pennies on the dollar, will be especially 'thrilled' about THAT.

My only sadness ABM, is that when Africa was mighty and the land of unlimited kingdoms....we let greed and decadence rule our souls. The East African slave trade was far worse than the Transatlantic slave trade---and because of this trait in Blacks to sell each other and to worship outsiders....we have become the DUNCE of the world.

I agree with Chinweizu that the African MAN remains in the mold of his middle earth ancestor---a Selfish sell out always looking for the easy way out (and that includes the BLACK AMERICAN and WESTERN Black Man), always letting his dick lead his brain.

I would rather we put our EVERYTHING into the African daughter (as Chinweizu says this is our only true hope for survival and CHANGE--to create a new mother).....but the sexism in Africa is so ALMIGHTY that I don't see a way out for us.

Greed, superstition, ignorance and self-hate permeates the African.

The Smart Good Men of Africa---like Lumumba---are killed instantly.

Arabs, Europeans and White and Nigger Media is what RULES Africa.

And in America, the Black Man's mother is no longer black, which is even worse.

Nigger Media means-----"Black Created images by the World's Rich Black Elites who INNOCENTLY feed Colorist images and Materialistic Values" to the BLACK PEOPLE on the bottom--worldwide. Think that man who created BET.

In Africa, they call them "Pogo-Niggers", but they're no different than Russell Simmons (mild nigger), Clarence Thomas (extra strength nigger) and Michael Jackson (Super nigger) in America.....or the nigger elite in Dominican Republic or Brazil....or North Sudan, which is truly the KINGDOM OF NIGGERS.

The message is----

The LIGHT is our savior. The LIGHT is superior.

Now line your monkey asses up for your vaccinations.

I wanted to post this on the "Sudan" link but the board won't let me so...:
-----------------------
god, this is worst than the excuse they gave for not being able to read the nubian inscriptions: they needed to find a "rosetta stone" to help decipher the texts. Strange, considering they didn't need a "rosetta stone" to decipher Aztec hieroglyphs and mesopotamian cuneiform. And Rome conquered every land in it's reach EXCEPT Nubia beacause Queen Amanatori(sp?)and her army drove them back, but because the greek cleopatra is FAR more important to history -_-, no one will ever know about this TRUE black Queen. And more will be lost if those pyramids are under water!

That was mostly a rant but I'm too angered to think straight. >:-(

ABM--

Polygamy really is a holdover of the ancient world.

And back then---it worked and was necessary.

Women and children had to be PROTECTED in Africa from the elements, the animals, etc.

Since 1900, only 45% of African societies have engaged in Polygamy.

And don't forget that there are tribes in Sudan, Ghana and Mali where WOMEN are the ones who marry up to 8 husbands---and the men must compete to become a husband (highest status).

The society, which is SEXIST like ALL world societies, did not allow too many females to advance in business or as a Warrior Tribal leader in war (although Nzingah became one of the greatest warriors).

NOTE: Those women who were allowed to own their businesses, etc. were usually the ones who had given birth to more than Six Sons (at which point an African woman is given the Status of "Manhood" herself).

Kola,

So do you think there's little if any justification for the continuation of African polygamy?

What society allows African WOMEN to have several husbands? And what's the explanation for how such evolved?

Is this some strand of super nymphomania that's seldom been witnessed/studied by non-Africans?

It seems to me such a female-centric society is easily raped/sacked by outsiders.

And what happen to the men who never marry? They 'become' gay?

PS: Heck. I guess any chick that can birth/raise 6 sons is indeed some kinda "man". Hehe!

ABM, religion dictates "Polygamy".

In tribes where GOD is female---the women have multiple husbands.

No, like most modern African women---I'm against Polygamy and I'm going to write a book demonstrating that it's more to a woman's advantage to be a "Whore" than to be a "Wife", let alone 1 of several wives.

Wifery and Polygamy BOTH are set up for the male to benefit.

(Speaking as a White Person)
Reading some of these posts about about white people helping Africa has me concerned. DEEPLY CONCERNED!!!!!

White people have been raping Africa for centuries and they still continue to do so. Instead of slavery they use the WTO,NAFTA and the IMF. CRIPES!!!! Even our president rufuses to send aid to fight HIV and instead promotes abstinence!!!!

Absinence programs have been known to fail on every conceivable level you can imagine (No Pun intended!!!).

Even Dick CHeney and Pat Robertson wanted throw away sanction to South Africa. Cheney himself voted to keep Mandela in jail because and claimed he was a communist!!!!

THe colonial mindset and it's racist implications toward Africa, South America, Jamaica and Haiti are still alive and while by upper crust white folks in this country. If White people want to band togather and do soemting about it by all means let them.

The racism of the past has propelled many of them to where they are today.

InMY Brain,

I concur with EVERYTHING you said right up to your "If White people want to band togather and do soemting about it by all means let them."

Because everything else you said is in STARK contrast to THAT ever occurring.

It's utterly IMPROBABLE that White foks could or would ever know and do what is required to rescue Africa.

I agree, with you InMyBrain. Every little bit helps. Of course, no one group can solve Africa's problems but token gestures call attention to the situation and can have a "contagious" effect, giving rise to an "epidemic" of aid from both public and private sectors.
