Dang! I was hoping that Diane Sawyer was “Deep Throat”. Because THAT would have made for a more ‘interesting’ conclusion to this long-running story. HAHA! |

I was REALLY hoping ABC's Good Morning America hostess Diane Sawyer was Deep Throat. That way, not only would it be fun imagining what she knew, it would be even more fun figuring HOW a then comely, plucky, motivated young 20-something Nixon operative acquired such knowledge. |

I just heard the craziest thing I think I ever heard a white man say--it David Gergen or Pat Buchanan, one of them, who said that Deep Throat should have gone to Nixon and told him what they had on him and given him a chance to correct things himself. I don't think the man is being serious or he is speaking for public consumption. That is just crazy! |

Chris, Have you actually witnessed a lot of the other stuff Gergen and Buchanan say? If so, it shouldn't surprise you at all they'd say something so stupid. HAHA! Man! We know had dude been stupid enuff to have done THAT, he would have been dead the moment he'd departed the White House grounds. PS: The post-mortem loyalty Nixon continues to command is nothing short of cultish. |

Attempts to portray Deep Throat as some kind of a national hero are stirring controversy. There are those who say that his prime motivation was that he had a grudge against Nixon, and also that he was the right hand man of J. Edgar Hoover, thoroughly in agreement with Hoover's sleazy tactics and chronic paranoia, particularly when it came to black leaders who he thought were all Communists poised to overthrow the government. It's like it wouldn't be inaccurate to describe Deep throat as a rat fink, drunk with power, turned on by the idea of bringing down the presidency. But, then, it's not unusal for "heroes" to have feet of clay. |

Cynnique: All that may be true. But it's just like they used (and lauded) Sammy the Bull Gravano for bringing down John Gotti. Nixon was doing just what he said he was doing--and I also don't believe that he was going forward on his own. |
