Michael Jackson defense rested their case. Any thoughts about the outcome? I thought Jay Leno was funny and I think MJ's innocent. This kid was after attention.

I feel....very soiled....as this case is coming to a close, Nadine. It's like he's innocent, but he's DEFINITELY NOT innocent. That feeling.

Kola, The word "soiled" is appropriate. I don't really want him to be convicted. I don't know whether he did it. Don't even know what "it" is. Yep. "Soiled" indeed.

I too think that he is innocent in this particular case. BUT, he is still guilty of sleeping with "young white boys" in his bed. YUCK. |

I think that there is a strong possibility that the jury, remembering the way the jurors in the OJ case were pilloried, will look for some minor charge on which to convict Jackson--assuming the prosecutor is smart enough to plead all lesser included charges. If the jury is allowed to make a recommendation, they will probably go for fine, counseling and community service. I think that bad as the kid's testimony is supposed to have been, Jackson's failure to take the stand is going to hurt--I know the jury is not supposed to take that into consideration--they will say they won't and go ahead and do it and there is nothing anyone can do about it. There are rumors that Jackson's attorneys, after the fiasco of the Jay Leno testimony, are thinking about recalling the kid to the stand and hammering him. That will be great--for the prosecutor. The 46 year old Jackson won't even get on the stand to say he is innocent and his attorneys hammer a kid. This whole thing is awful and Michael Jackson should have gotten some help after the 1993 incident, but he didn't which indicates to me that he is incapable of recongizing the inappropriateness of his behavior--while not a danger to the community along the lines of a John Wayne Gacy, he should not be allowed to continue his ways. |

Chris, Solid analysis. I think, though, Mike might be able to skate from testifying if the jury has bought his woebegone act he's pull since the trial began. If they did, they might accept his not being up to testifying. But I agree wholeheartedly that calling the boy back would be a MONUMENTAL blunder on the part of the defense both for the reasons you cite and that will be perceived as an act of desperation. And I might include in a sentencing recommendation that he, within certain parameter, must eschew contact with ANY/ALL children who are NOT his blood relations (though for his sake I hope that wouldn't include Prince Michael I, II and his 'daughter'). |

I agree Chris and ABM, and I would add that one way, barring a sentencing order, for his contact with kids to be limited is... FOR PARENTS TO STOP LETTING THEIR CHILDREN GO TO HIS HOUSE, FERCRYINOUTLOUD! |
