Happy Birthday to America's most famous political prisoner!
Been covering Mumia for some time now, the real brothers and sisters who understand what it means to be Black and live in this country; this land of the greed and home of the slave, have not wavered in our support of this man. We don't care about how the mainstream media has framed public opinion. We don't care that the National-Negro-Downlow-so-called-Journalist have turned their backs on him even though he was their first president. We don't care if NPR punked out on him. We don't care if the NAACP dragged their feet on they're official support of him. It's all about Mumia, and it will continue to be until he is proven innocent.
You see, it's not White people that I'm worried about, Whites are doing what they've been doing for roughly a thousand years, hating non-Whites-especially Blacks. White civilization is distinct for one quality and one only. They are not a master race, they are not mentally superior. They are the way they are because they are the most persistant ethnic group in history. Kick a White man's ass today, and he'll still knock on your door tommorow. Mulitply that factor from one to a million and you got colonialism. That is part of Mumia's situation, what started as a tragic police incident resulting in a loss of life, continues decades later with a man still on death row as a result of a kangaroo trial. Persistance.
In a time of Bush/conservatism that is more obvious and in-your-face than ever before, it behooves us as African Americans to become aware of Mumia and the issues surrounding him, and lend our own tireless, undying support.
