Dear Board,
Some of you have been waiting years for something to happen...that would shut me down and shut me up...
....and now it has.
As you all know, I've been bragging about the South Sudanese giving me a Medal of Honor in Omaha this Sat. April 16th....but over the past weekend, there has been great and loud opposition by the SPLA in Washington, D.C.
...and today those men, Commander's Jimmy Mulla and Biel Puoch and their opposition won.
I WILL NOT...receive the Medal of Honor...or atleast not before the sufficient list of Male Commanders have been honored with Medals and Swords FIRST.
The TRUE REASON...is because I'm a woman.
But the argument that the men made was that I am a North Arab, not a Southern Black.....that I am Egyptian not Sudanese (because of my father), totally ignoring the fact that I was BORN in Omdurman, Sudan.... that I am a WHORE (which I maintain, I had to be!), that I am a former Muslim and currently involved in "woman's religion" and that I am not a Commander, but a novelist-poet and Secret Agent.
Although I am still invited to be honored with a "party" by my countrymen this Saturday at the St. Richard's Catholic Church in Omaha...I HAVE DECLINED TO ATTEND.
And by the end of this week, I will resign from the SPLA for good.
I am not a Commander, but I have accomplished many things for the SPLA that no Commander was able to do....culminating last year in guns and ammunition being provided to the South Rebel Army, because of a Speech I made in Israel and because of my ability to win the ear of Israel's former Prime Minister, Netanyahu.
At this moment, I don't know what I will do....as I feel deeply betrayed and more than that....Publicly Humiliated...because I had told so many people about the award, and of course, there are many who have never wanted a woman like me to exist at all. So again, this will become a way for them to say that I don't exist.
My only consolation is that I did not publicize the event, thank God, and was smart enough to wait until the actual medal had been bestowed.
I realize that many, like Nyibol and her father, have invested a great deal of time preparing me for the event (Nyibol taught me the Dinka language over the phone and by tapes and her father and I enjoyed talking about the intricacies of the SPLA and the war)...I am deeply grateful for their help and am very sorry....but I MUST...resign from the SPLA completely. They have put egg on my face for the second time and again, it's undeserved.
I will be away from the board for a while, mainly because I feel so humiliated and do not have Thomas's shoulder to cry on or any real friend that I FEEL is a friend and frankly....am not strong enough right now to take the criticism and attacks that will come from enemies.
If I could, at this moment, I would retire from my entire public career, and I can honestly say to you....that I have fought these men with every thing I had over the weekend...and I am the defeated one and tired.
At last, I am defeated.

Oh God, this has been the quietest post I've read from you. I'm sorry Kola, and I wish there was anything I can do. Don't worry about my efforts for helping you make the tape. When I say I would help I help. Kola, these people will miss the powerful message on the tape, the LOVE you so deeply express for the Southerners is amazing...
Kola, I can't imagine getting rejected by the people I call my own, so I feel your pain. You have been thrown around so much; first your own relatives threw you to the Europians for being black! And now your own black people won't even care after doing so much for them... this is too sad  ____________________________
I will be here by your side at all times, just remember that. If those men are not proud of you, at least remember you have friends and family that love you. Shame on Thomas for not being there for you... men are such hypocrites in the world. You know what, I have to tell you that there is a positive reason for not being in Nebraska on the 16th to receive this honor. I wish they hadn't told you this in the first place... I'M SO ASHAMED OF THEM. Now, I don't know that positive reason, but keep your hopes up because God loves you Kola. *Hugs*
Please don't stop working because I still have to read everything you have written and if I like your books I don't think I would want to stop reading. |

Kola,
I'm so sorry for you as it was so important for you to receive this honor. But do not allow it to trouble you so.
There are things that are simply out of our control. Our best laid plans fall through. And we must move on.
You had warned us there were ardent forces at play who were attempting to thwart your being honored. So I for one thought it at best 50-50 odds you'd receive the award.
But it does NOT really matter.
Those who love and appreciate what you do and who you are will continue to support you. And those who don't were not TRULY supportive of you to begin with.
Remember: You've fought not for the honor of the SPLA or to receive some inert medallion. You've fought to protect and liberate your people! And regardless of what men think of you, you and your sons should feel proud of that.
Please do NOT go away.
We ALL need for you to remain strong, encouraged and alive, My Sister.

I’m very sorry to hear this Kola. I know how much it meant to you and how proud you were of the honor to be shown you. The honor is still yours to claim within yourself and in the people who know you and your accomplishments. Just keep writing and speaking and the rest will follow.

KOLA BOOF
Novelist--Freedom Fighter Kola Boof was all set to receive a Medal of Honor from South Sudanese forces (notably the SPLA) this Saturday, April 16th at St. Richard's Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska when SPLA members Jimmy Mulla and Biel Puoch of Washington, D.C. formed an opposition to Boof's medal over the weekend and were able to persudade the SPLA to recind the bestowing of a medal of honor on the controversial Sudanese-American author.
In 2004, Kola Boof gave a speech in Tel Aviv, Israel, which resulted in guns and ammunition being provided for South Rebel fighters through Israeli groups sympathetic to Boof's appeal. Kola Boof was also one of the earliest and most effective "propagandists" in the U.S., spreading the word of slavery and genocide in Sudan--years before the New York Times and other newspapers began reporting the story. As well, Boof was heavily attacked and made fun of by American News Media and deemed "unreportable". In 2002, The New York Times called her a "prostitute", "dishonest" and even suggested that she did not exist, but was a fictional internet personality.
Although a "party and rally" honoring Kola Boof's contribution to the war was still scheduled for this Saturday in Omaha, Kola Boof has declined to attend and says that the only reason she is not being given the medal is because she's a woman.
The SPLA OPPOSITION, however, cited the following reasons as to why Boof will not receive a medal:
Boof is Half Arab with no Dinka, Nuer or Shilluk blood.
Boof is NOT a Commander in the SPLA, but a "feminist" novelist.
Opposition sees Boof as Egyptian, because her father was Arab Egyptian--despite the fact that she was born in Omdurman, Sudan according to Sudanese birth records.
Boof supports Homosexuality (and is accused by several SPLA men of being homosexual, which she denies)
Opposition sees Boof as a "Whore" (Boof was the mistress of Arab men, including enemy Vice President Hasan al Turabi and Osama Bin Laden). Boof contends that she is no bigger whore than the men of the SPLA.
Boof was once Muslim (by birth) and is now openly a Womanist and Pagan (choosing African "women's" religion)
Boof is seen as a "wild woman"--highly outspoken, unruly and having an explosive personality. Some men have expressed fear of being physical assaulted by her.
Rarely acknowledged by the SPLA, other than by the moniker "Queen Kola"---Kola Boof is the highest ranking woman in the SPLA and is expected to resign this week.
Ms. Boof is the mother of two sons and the author of 6 books published in 8 countries, her most recent release being the novel "Flesh and the Devil". In summer, 2005, her autobiography "Diary of a Lost Girl" will be released in America.

For the record, many men in the SPLA have come to Kola Boof's defense today, including N.Y. Commander Bern Yuot, London Commander Deng Ajak and the Commander in Kenya, Pheladi Garang.
Pheladi Garang has written a release stating, "Kola Boof is one of Sudan's greatest women in history. Certainly the greatest Queen we've had in this era. She is flawed but PERFECT. She deserved ten medals."
Kola is more hurt by things said to her by the Opposition Group than by the actual medal being recinded. She is quitting the SPLA, because she will not tolerate things that were said about her.
Our company still intends to release some kind of DVD project, although it will probably be a documentary about Kola herself now.

Dear Kola,
I want to show you my support to you whatever situation you're in, if you don't feel strong enough now, that's ok, just know that it's only temporary and you will triumph eventually (and not only in our minds),
and I also want to say that I don't have ANY RESPECT whatsoever for those SPLA members JIMMY MULLA and BIEL PUOCH and anybody else that spreaded such lies about you, manipulating the truth, just because they are such SMALL hearted NOBODIES.
I totally look down on those pathetic pigs and they may know it! They deserve a big medal as for being the BIGGEST COWARDS of Sudan!
Typical for morons like them to manipulate their people with (so-called) nationalistic and religious arguments in order to keep on discriminating(to say at the least!) their women.
People need to stop falling into that trap, because if misogyny didn't exist in the first place, other forms of discrimination, like racism, wouldn't exist either.
Sudan and any other place on the planet where war and violence prevails, will NEVER know freedom and peace if they can't accept and respect the feminine side of nature and therefore, WOMEN as a whole.
Those idiots clearly BLEW it by dismissing you for the ONLY reason, you being a woman. If they don't (want to) see that now, they will HAVE TO, someday, because that day will come, INEVITABLY.

That's very sweet, you standing out for Kola like that. YYW has issues and needs to find something better to do with his/her life other than bugging Kola about who she is. And well I will be first to answer that question of yours; I don't care if Kola boof has arab blood or not. I respect her because she is truly an amazing individual. YYW, I don't see the point in bragging about Kola's DNA.. She knows where she came from. Only her can tell you her story. Kola, you are beautiful! YYW, take another look at yourself in the mirror and see that you can become and more welcoming and loving arab. God bless all of you ! |

Thanks Cynique and Nyibol.
But the truth is....I really love my Arab father, no matter how I despise his people and what they do to Sudan and did to me and did to HIM.
All his life, he so desperately wanted to be black, and I am glad that I came out looking the way he wanted me to---totally black.
As you know, Nyibol. MOST black Arabs are darker than me and do not call themselves "black"-----I am the reverse. I do not call myself "Arab".
