Kola, Hey, I first want to thank you for something you did for me last year. I posted a thread about black bookstores suffering (of which, mine was one), and you reached out to me and sent me some books. You didn't know me from Adam, and I have always appreciated your gesture. Thank you so much. You and this new Discussion Board, are definitely the bomb.
You may find this interesting, but I was having a book fair at a local university recently and I had a couple of your books on display. I got into a discussion with a Nigerian man and an Arab man (I forgot what country he was from) and we started talking about your books. I picked one up and showed them the back cover. The two men immediately got into a discussion about how although you were very beautiful, you wouldn't be considered beautiful in many places in Africa because of your color. It was a very heated discussion and very eye-opening. It's just surprising to me how much skin color dominates our society and how we treat each other.
Anyway, thanks again and I look forward to your next book!!!!
Oh, and for the record, I find you very striking and I love your writing. |

Thanks for saying hello and I'm glad you were able to get my books out there---which was also why I sent you copies.
Yes, the issue of color is one that I've been annointed to deal with. As an African mother who has been personally afflicted by it, I don't see how I can't. For so long, blacks have behaved as though they have some MORAL superiority over whites----but this is not the case----and for the sake of our people's future, the demons must be exorsized.
I'm so glad you like the board and I look forward to you posting more often!! Well--when you have time of course.
I notice that you registered in 2004, a year ago, and have only posted 20 times. LOL
Anyway, thanks so much for the shout out.
