Thanks for the article Chris. I read My Jim and although slave stories are usually hard for me I did enjoy the writing and the strong characterization given to Jim and his family. I started reading Forbidden Fruit mentioned in the article but the horrible treatment of the slaves started bothering me and I put it down for the Hannibal story I’m reading now. The idea that I can just close a book to run away from such treatment isn’t lost on me though.

On your advice, I just ordered a copy of MY JIM Crystal. Maybe we can discuss it later?

Hello Nanette! I hope you like it and I'll be happy to discuss it. It's been sooo many years since I've read Huckleberry Finn I don't really remember how Jim was handled in it and I'm thinking of re-reading it now, especially after reading the article.

Dang.

Now you all have ME wanting to read MY JIM.

LOL

I loved Alice Randall's take on GONE WITH THE WIND and I'd be interested to see the other side of JIM and to meet his family.

Check it out Kola. It's a small book under 200 pages but still not what I would consider a quick read.
