My entire YEAR was made recently when I got to speak on the telephone with the hero of my life.......legendary Senegalese filmmaker Ousmane Sembene. His latest film is the languidly beautiful "MOOLADE". Sembene is called the "Father of African Cinema"---and was the first Black African to make a motion picture back in 1964....his now classic, "Black Girl". I love him dearly and I encourage any and all to check out his early novels and especially his captivating films, which in my opinion, are the most REALISTIC and AUTHENTIC representations of "black people" ever put on film anywhere on earth. My favorite film by Sembene is "Guelwar". But all his work is masterful. I love Ousmane Sembene. |

Coming soon to this site will be my Authors Pages....in salute of not only Ousmane Sembene, but also Nigeria's legendary scholar and social critic CHINWEIZU, the author of the classic book "The West and the Rest of Us" among others. I love Chinweizu and am happy to report that we've become good friends.
