I thought that title was rather clever, didn't you? Well it seems the Conservatives have been turned out of office in Spain. Conservatives over here are spinning this as though cowardly liberals folded before Al Quaeda and bowed to them (have these people been checked for rabies?) while others are examining the fact that 90% of the Spanish public was against participation in the Iraqi venture and that the government tried to pin it on the Basques. Do you think that the results of the election portend anything for our own in November? |

Americans tend to close ranks when other countries criticize this nation. It's difficult for all of these die-hards to admit that a first strike against Iraq was a mistake. Because of the economy a lot of folks are starting to see the light, but polls show that more people than not still think that Bush is doing the right thing when it comes to combating terrorism. Also Bush has a such a huge war chest that he might be able to hack into the computerized voting process. If the race is close and there is again wide-spread suspicion about the final result, there might be a civil war! Won't that be fun! |

Chris I sure hope the results portend something for our own election in November. I hope the blacks get out there in mass numbers and vote this horrid administration out of office. I will do my part in getting folks out to vote. You know the 2002 mid term election was a fiasco wrought by blacks NOT getting out to vote. White conservatives were literally sitting on TV bemoaning what they themselves thought would be loss of control of the House and maybe Senate because of the black vote that DID NOT COME. Had blacks voted in masses we would have knocked those idiots for a loop just as we did during the mid-term election during the whole Clinton debaucle. It stunned white America's political analysts. They sat on TV again, 'bemoaning' the power that blacks had unleashed. They all admitted, that that astounding victory was the direct result of just 1 to 2 % more of black populace getting out and vote. Blacks blew it....and now it is we who sit 'bemoaning' while the enemy racist forces sit victorious in the seat of power now snickering at the black folly. Shameful, it's all so shameful! |

Theprophetess, I agree that African Americans should do whatever we can to run the rats out of DC. But, to be fair, we should more thoroughly consider how even our most sincere and earnest efforts have been and can be undermined at the polls: 1) The President is elected via the Electoral College. The EC system dilutes the relative weight of a vote in the more populous states, where most often Blacks reside. So, a state like Illinois (with +1 million Blacks), might have 15X the population of Montana (with <10,000 Blacks) yet we awarded less than 8X the number of EC votes. That is why Gore can theoretically lose the election (FL fiasco notwithstanding) in spite of earning nearly a million votes more than Bush. 2) As was proven in Florida in 2000, state governments have/will use state law enforcement to cow Blacks from voting. 3) 100,000's of Black men and many women with criminal records have lost the right to vote. 4) Also proven in Florida, state governments intentionally administer faulty and bias voting equipment and procedures. So, until we remedy these issues, we will continue to struggle with having our vote be effectively utilized, no matter how faithfully we attend the polls. |

Abm you know how we can remedy this? By getting out to vote. Isn't it bad enough that they are purposely imprisoning our youth on 'drug felonies' to forever take away the power of the vote in the black community? Wasn't it horrid the segregational tactics they used in 2000? Not just in Florida, but what was subsequently found out to be 21 southern states? They pulled over blacks, put black's names on a list as a 'criminal' so they couldn't vote. That stuff really happened and that fact alone, shows us the power of the united black vote. If they would go through all that evil to stop us, we must have mass voting power that can knock out their political evil in high places simply by getting out there to vote. That is the first, main, relevant step. We can work out the other matters you mentioned once we've done some united damage by simply voting. |
