You're making fun, ABM. But everytime I hear that word--I think of black men and boys. With distaste and weariness. Cha-Ching! |

Anonymous Lady, Well, I admit I always TRY (though often FAIL) to find the humor in EVERYTHING (Even Death & Taxes can be funny!). But heck! If africana.com can see fit to post it on their site, I thought it maybe worth discussing here. So then, are you saying only Black men/boys (mis)use the B-word? |

The Senior Editor of Africana is a White woman named Kate Tuttle. A black man is the Editor In Chief and a multi-racial man writes the A-LIST. As I was saying...the disrespect never ends. **Yawn**

Anonymous Lady-- that's because Africana.com was started by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. who is married to a white woman. It's always been a black men/white women web site. I don't read it either.

Hmmmm? So then, let me understand what you 2 are saying. Because a Black man who has a White wife founded the site, ANYTHING/EVERYTHING posted on the site is null/void? I mean, I am as down with the Sistahs as anybody. But isn't judging the quality of the site solely on the basis of the who/what the founder is married to a bit myopic? What should we do, require everyone who write any article that pertain to African Americans be required to submit to a melanin test or something? |

The SENIOR EDITOR of the site is a White woman, too. Nothing gets on unless she approves it. Maybe you should take up your pov with the black female journalists whose stuff is rejected from being posted there.

And ABM you are "NOT" as down with the "sistuhs" any other bro. So Can it and go back to fetus position with your BLACK wife. You tried to invoke Africana as some bastion of great authenticity and the fact is--it's a web site ran by a bunch of sell out black men at Harvard and their white girlfriends. I visit the site sometimes and find it quite enjoyable, but I still feel the sting of knowing that black men picked white women to run it when there are so many intelligent, qualified "sistuhs" who could use those paychecks and those job references instead of the blondes at Africana.

YARN! Ok yawl. I like to scrap 2 (and am pretty dang good at it). But you are much more 'invested' in what is/not going on africana.com than I am. It's clear you 2 (rabidly) have an axe to grind against the site that this post refers to. While I am neither interested in or capable of adequately defending their alleged hiring/editorial practices. So unless you or someone else is interested in discussing the subject matter that this post originally referred to, let's just respectfully leave each other be. |
