Well, I knew old garbage mouth would stoop to this sooner or later to appeal to his fans, who must get a good laugh from his bilge when they are at their klaverns.

He got on ESPN the other day and said that Donovan McNabb was overrated and the only reason he was playing is because they wanted to see a black quarterback succeed--as if we done forgot how long it took them to start using black quarterbacks in pro football.

I think about this disgusting, porcine, loudmouth, and I look to heaven and ask God, "Lord, how long? How long do we have to put up with his continued existence on this earth?

Chris,

My sentiments exactly. I thought the fact that he was losing his hearing awhile back might be the thing to shut him down. But obviously it didn't. I can't stand the sight or sound of this nasty, racist, bigotted monster.

Limbaugh's assertion strikes me as illogical. The Eagles are trying to win games. That is the only reason any of those brothers are on the field in the first place.

I used to listen to Limbaugh. But I found him very repetitive and over time very boring. i would not characterize him as evil. However I do believe he is racist. He probably questions the capability of any Black person, in a meaningful position -- claiming their race rather than ability got them there.

To be fair, Rush Limbaugh did not say the only reason the Philadelphia Eagle’s starting quarterback McNabb is playing is because he's Black. He said the reason why he's being overrated by the press is because the "liberal" press wants a Black quarterback to succeed.

Having said that, I think Limbaugh is a loudmouth, mercenary, race-baiting know-it-all who doesn't deserve a fraction of the credit/attention/cash he regularly receives. It is blatantly obvious that Limbaugh sought to make a cheap-n-easy appeal to the legion of zombie backwards rednecks who wistfully regret that one of the last bastions of white male machismo; the heroic, team-leading quarterback; is quickly and inexorably going the way of the Brothaman!

Still, the worst part about what Limbaugh said is that he is flat-out WRONG. McNabb is a wonderful QB who has instantly helped to turn a floundering NFL Philadelphia Eagle’s franchise into a consistent playoff contender.

It never ceases to amaze me how people like Limbaugh, Jesse Jackson, and all the other talking heads - on both the left and the right - are able to garner so much power/esteem without ever having to be made accountable for their incessant ranting. If Limbaugh really has anything to offer, he should stop dealing his vacuous swill, put his flatulent ass-on-the-line and run for elected office.

Interestingly, McNabb’s (white) head coach Andy Reed made perhaps the best response to Limbaugh. After hearing Limbaugh's asinine comments from the press, Reed appropriately asked: "Rush who?"

Well ol' Trashmouf is gone from ESPN never to darken the towels in the men's room again. Resigned.

He knows what he is doing--it gets me how people like him and O'Reilly will play to the p-nut gallery and when caught at it will deny that's what they are doing. I would have more respect (but not much) for them if they would admit it!

Now if he will just go away completely it will make my day.

All:

Also now comes word that he is a pillhead--I know it was in the tabloids but they are practically newspapers of record now.

Well, Chris. I guess it's as my mother always said, "When you point enuff fingahs, eventually folks start tu point 'em right back 'atchew'." And considering his track record, Rush is likely to get a heaping helping of middle digits.

ABM -- thanks for the clarification. I was reacting as if Rush said the Eagles were playing McNabb because he was black. I found what I believe was the offensive quote:

"I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well,"

"There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

Hummm... if this is the statement at the center of the controversy. I spoke out of turn. Not to say that I don't think Rush can be a "race-baiting know-it-all who" at times -- that is perhaps part of his appeal. However, taking this statement (admittedly out of content) and ignoring the rest of Limbaugh, I'm surprised by the level of controversy.

My understanding is that Rush's purpse was to "mix it up" and bring life to the pre-game show. People knowledgeable about the game can argue whether McNabb is a great player, or one who is over rated. Surely that can't be the problem.

Unless someone has done a study and counted the number of favorable stories and unfavorable stories for the NFL's black quarterbacks; then whether the media wants to see a Black quarterback succeed is open to interpretation as well. Without checking we know that NcNabb gets good press and bad press -- all quarterbacks do.

So what is the controversy all about now? The controversy should have started when he was hired for that sports program.

ABM, Rush deserves every penny he get gets, otherwise he would not get it.

Part of Rush's appeal. Is that he says things that people are thnking, but are not eloquent enough or have the forum to express. Rush like so many of the "conservative" radio talk show host's, are willing to say what they believe -- even if it is not politically correct. That was his initial appeal to me when I first here him years ago.

Shoot 10% of what is posted on this board would have gotten the poster fired or blacklisted in their respective professions were it to be broadcast to a national audience. Perhaps that is why so many post with aliases. One could argue that Rush too should have know better than to say something like that on national TV but he obviously does not need the job.

Fear of being honest (even if you are wrong) for the sake of polictical correctness is our biggest problem. This dishonestly makes it impossible to seriously address issues particularly when they involve race.

Peace

Troy:

I don't post with an alias. Rush is like toxic waste--a little at first may be ignored, but after a while it gets built up. What he said about McNabb was like the straw breaking the camel's back. I knew sooner or later he would do it cuz he is an idiot. Furthermore he runs away bawling when he gets called on it. And he won't meet anybody in any debate.

He's a wuss for all that talk and a fake--it's all about the Benjamins with him. Trouble is so many of his idiot listeners think that his lies, half truths and outright distortions are righteous positions instead of blather you would hear from some half drunk blowhard in a bar.

If what he says is what America thinks this country is in trouble. We all know nobody leaves what they think or how they feel at home, it affects their actions.

I guess "you guys" were happy when Joe Lewis was introduced as "a credit to your race."?
When sportscasters lose their jobs because of hyper sensitivity then sportscasts cease to be of any value to fans. I am fairly well read, and I know of few literary depictions of white males that are not critical or condescending, yet I can read without erupting.
There are serious problems in the United States - QB criticism ain't one of them. Get real.

The white media more than anyone made a big deal out of Rush Lumbaugh's remarks. Blacks just chuckled among themselves because some of them have also been around long enough to remember that white athletes may have been criticized for their lack of athleticism but always implicit in such remarks was that they compensated for this by being "smart." For a long time, black athletes were regarded as dumb jocks. That's why there was an unwritten rule preventing them from being quarterbacks in pro football. You need to get real.
