Now that the criminal rape case against Kobe has been dropped, what do you think he should do?
Should he go thru with defending himself in civil court? Or should he try to settle?
I guess the obvious view would be that he should NOT offer to pay her if he didn't in fact rape her. But at this point, he has invested so much time/effort/money in this fiasco, he might be wise to hit this chick up with a low 7-figure payoff and go on with his life.
I have heard legal experts say the burden of proof is less for a civil trial than a criminal one. Civil juries tend to side with claimants. And even though the alleged victim was hardly nun-material, I could see a (White) jury rationalizing that because of all she's 'endured' and that his innocence was NOT conclusively proven, she should get 'something'.
'Sides. He just signed a +$90M deal with the Lakers. So even if he does cut her a check, he'd HARDLY be hurting.
And really. Would paying her do anymore damage to his image than what has already been done?
So what do you say?
Think dude should just break this skeezer off a few duckets so he can immediately begin rebuilding the tattered remains of his life/reputation. |

ABM I think Kobe shouldnt give the little golddigger a penny let the girl prove her case.He worked for that money why should he just hand it over to her on a platter.I'd make her got to court and prove it.It might cost him more in the end but it aint like he dont have the money.I feel if he just settles it will be open season on Kobe.Women will be coming from everywhere claming to have gone threw the same thing.Less we forget what has happened to michael jackson after he settled. |

Those are all good points (though I am not sure that Jackson's troubles are due to his settlement). And I am mostly playing Devil's Advocate here as I think that were I Kobe, a major part of me would be inclined to think/respond as you advise.
But I guess it all depends on the money's that on the table. Because at a certain point, one's time/energy and peace of mind must factor into to things.
He'll be starting the 2004 NBA season soon. He's already chased Shaq/Phil out of town, which has PISS a lot of foks off. So there are a LOT of NBA people/fans are wondering if he'll (perhaps expecting him to) fall flat on his face.
I am not sure his paying off dirty blond will open the floodgates to demands from every other flea-ridden hoochie he might have shared area codes with. Because it is unlikely they will, at this point, have anything remotely close to the kind evidence against him that this particular chick had. And any decent judge/jury will see them coming a mile away.
And there is that possibility that some details might be revealed during the civil trial that make him appear even more guilty that he does already.
So he might be wise to conclude, "Look. I've got a lot of work to do. I have lost a lot of time in this thing that I could have used focusing on my game and family. So hey. I'll pay up to $??? to get rid of her. You guys (attorneys) negotiate up to that point. Unless she wants anything above that, I really don't want to see, hear or even THINK about this chick again." |

Hmmmmmmmm I just got threw discussing this topic with my husband who is almost as big a basketball fan as me.He feels the same way as I do.I'll say it again don't give the white girl a penny.See Kobe was wrong from the beginning when he slept with the girl.What's the ole sayin lay down with dogs end up with fleas.I know I am going to get jumped for this one but I am going to say it anyway.That's whats wrong with brothas now any time a white women wants to give them alittle bit they lose they freaking mind.Now ya'll know what I really wanted to say.Do you feel like this would have went as far as it has if this was a sistah that brought the case against him? |

If KOBE has any saavy or sense whatsoever---he will settle this case---NOW.
The American Public has the SHORTEST ATTENTION SPAN I have ever seen. Their memory is less than quarter of an inch.
KOBE has already gotten the media to publicly prove that this woman is a liar (sorry folks--but NO WOMAN would sleep with another man right after she's just been RAPED). She's been proven to be a Psycho-Nut....out for "celebrity"....and not just a CABIN Wench--but a "dirty, filthy" CABIN Wench who doesn't even wash her ass.
Yes, KOBE is a dirty two-faced WHORE himself. But that's not "illegal"...and furthermore, it's none of our business.
This is the perfect time for KOBE to "quietly" pay her off---have his PR team explain to the media that he just can't take the STRESS of this Bullshit any longer, especially since he's got a GAME to play---and get back to cultivating his IMAGE.
By Christmas of this year...the nation will have totally forgotten the incident, as surely...other cases and scandals are on the way.
It would be stupid for KOBE to risk all the "anxiety" that months and months of Legal Bullshit will bring....not to mention the fact that White People IN Colorado are very likely to award that slut 15 to 20 million in a civil suit. He would be smarter to just pay her the same check he gave his other materialistic whore---$4 million.
And speaking of which....IF....and I'm saying "IF"...his wife's parents win out, and Vanessa really does leave him...she will be demanding at least $21 million for herself and will GET IT EASY (Princess Diana got $26 million from Prince Charles...and Diana Ross got $64 million from Arne Naess). Michael Jackson's case cannot be compared to KOBE'S.
Michael is 10 times bigger...a FOOL...than KOBE could ever be.
Here is one of the richest men on earth, the most famous and HATED MEN on earth (and for the record--I loathe his White Pasty Azz)....but anyway.....he goes and KEEP SLEEPING WITH LITTLE BOYS on a regular basis.
That settlement of $20 mil would have definitely gotten him free and clear.....had he stayed away from these little WHITE children.
R. Kelly is PROOF that you can molest young black children (urinate in their faces on VIDEO) and be.....LOVED AND ADORED (especially by black people who love "geniuses" more than they love their own damned kids)....and get away with it.
KOBE is no where NEAR in the line of fire that these men are....because after KOBE pays this girl off, he can be a SMART WHORE and start planning and choreographing his "trysts" like the rest of the SMART GUYS.
Screaming "rape" is not easy if KOBE would just be PATIENT and have a person whose job it is to carefully PLAN his "run-ins".

I am not sure you can put what Kobe did off on all brothahs. I do think, though, a lot of brothahs are acting out sort of a post-slavery sex/vengence fantansy that they've got going on for cheap-n-easy White (& particularly blond) women. I too doubt this would have gotten this far had the alleged victim Black. Though, I also think a lot of sistahs would never have had him charged with rape to begin with. I just love the responses! You all mentioned some very interesting observations about sex, race, class, and morality in the Kobe Bryant case. Bottom-line is that Kobe Bryant ran into a psycho-freak at a Colorado resort, admittedly had a sexual encounter with this Caucasian freak, and now Kobe Bryant must pay the price for his misbehavior and sexual irresponsibility. Sorry ladies and gentlemen, but Kobe Bryant gets no sympathy from me.
By the way, did the court record state if Kobe used a condom? Either way, Kobe's got to be straight up, funky shame, and nasty to have sex with the woman who is now declares his encounter with her was not a case of consentual sex, but a case of rape. The Colorado chic was stank when she walked into Kobe's hotel room and stank when she left and later had sex with another man. Hmmm, sexual addition?

I don't know if any public records have been released as, techinically, a trial never officially commenced. So we may never see the hard evidence. But everything I have heard/read about what happened asserts this guy was NOT wearing a prophylactic.
Can you believe it? This guy has close/cozy relations with the world's most famous HIV+ person, Earvin "Magic" Johnson...and he STILL did this!

Having a "d**K" has NOTHING to do with it.
The fact is...males are socialized to enjoy their sexuality, they are encouraged by the media and the society to sexualize women and are patted on the back for how many conquests they can rack up.
When a man is promiscuous...women will say "Boys will be boys".
Females, however...are DEMONIZED if they try to enjoy the same sexual freedom and VARIETY of PARTNERS that men are EXPECTED to aquire.
A woman is socialized that her sexuality...is to be owned by MEN. She is to be "virtuous" by saving herself for one man only and by being chaste and non-sexual. OTHER WOMEN, through social modes like RELIGION keep most women in line by enforcing the men's ownership of women's sexuality and their "respectability".
For instance, if I were to say that my favorite sexual experiences were with two men at the same time and that I deliberately set this up often for myself---then I am immediately perceived as a whore and a bad person (whereas a man would be patted on the back for his conquests and given a pass--because of his "d**k"). Notice how ABM willingly uses that excuse and feels comfortable in doing so--because it absolves him of any wrongdoing or any moral impropriety. The fault is his "d**K" and therefore, he doesn't need a moral cloak. We will all continue to accept him...talk to him, socialize with him and RESPECT him--because he's a male.
But if I talk about my devotion to Thomas and the wonderful sons he's given me---then I am a good black woman who should be respected as a "mother" and people will imagine that I am "dignified".
WOMEN...have just as much sexual curiosity, desire and wanderlust as MEN do....but we are suppressed by MEN's ownership of our sexuality and MEN's ownership of our respectability...usually via Religious Tenets that females adhere to...while men do what they want to do.
That's why I'm a womanist.
I reject man-made religions and I own my own sexuality, and when I was young and single, I enjoyed being a so called "whore" ...and today...I would recommend that all young women in their 20's 1)go for their education 2) establish a career and 3) Sew their wild oats (albeit safely)....as frequently and as vigorously as possible.
And if I were not married to a wonderful man now--I would still be a WHORE now, but a much smarter and careful one than KOBE.
I never admired the suppressed lives of church women and "respectable ladies". It's just a CON that men inflict on females, and most of those women are closet freaks anyway----from not getting enough.

Now. Unlike what is being blared above, I don’t think most guys crave the Virgin Mary. Of course that’s totally stupid. But it’s also valid/true state of mind.
Maybe some brilliant female scientist will invent a vaccination for this.
The reason why it is difficult to reinforce more responsible behavior amongst men is all men understand what’s going on, even when they themselves can manage to behave more responsibly (or at least fool others into thinking they are).
So I guess to make us all act-right, all of womanhood would have band together in a united front and say, "THAT’S ENUFF. Act right, or you’re cut-off"...and mean it.
And I read somewhere that 1,000’s years ago some Grecian women band together and denied their men seck to stop a war. And it allegedly worked.
So I guess there is anecdotal evidence that something of this nature might work.
Or men would become rabid dawgs and there would be rapes occurring at bus stops during the morning rush hour.
So, I don’t know what we do.
I can’t advise too much useful advice here. But I will say the following: Ladies, if you have some pretty, skanky or emotionally vulnerable friends, WHATEVERYOUDO, don’t for very long leave them unescorted around your man! Because I don’t care how good/decent he is, you never know when that maniacal moment pounces on him. And the next thing you know you are having to call a divorce attorney...and buy new mattresses and bed linen.

The SECRET about me, ABM....is that I am EVERYTHING you would want. And 16 years ago, I would have been 19 or 20--you would've had to club me over the head with a stick. But then again, I didn't know any black men as savvy and brilliant as you--so I'm sure I would have been in awe and been weak to your demands.
But I was just thinking.
If we were now, today, married 16 years...I suppose by now that you would be having affairs with A_Womon (younger woman) and Moonsigns (white woman).
I would be a lonely housewife and angry feminist writer, aka former sex kitten, seeking ...SAFE... flirtations with anonymous black men on the internet...to ward off my loneliness....and flying off to Chicago to give pep talks to black lesbians.
