Below is an interesting part of Denzel's recent Katie Couric interview. It concerns money. Looks like Denzel ain't no intellectual lightweight. Heck! He might fit-in pretty well up in hur. Denzel vs. Meryl on Jesus & Bush 'Manchurian Candidate' stars spar on religion, politics -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: July 29, 2004 1:00 a.m. Eastern © 2004 WorldNetDaily.com "Manchurian Candidate" stars Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep may be promoting a movie together, but they are not of one mind when it comes to religion and politics, as a recent interview on NBC's "Dateline" revealed. Katie Couric asked Streep about her appearance at a John Kerry fund-raiser, where she criticized President Bush by saying: "Through the shock and awe I wondered which of the megaton bombs Jesus, our president's personal savior, would have personally dropped on the sleeping families of Baghdad." "It was a question about, when you put Jesus on the campaign bus to stump for you, you have to really listen to what he says," explained Streep. "Because he says, 'If a man smite thee on the cheek, let – you turn the other, that he may smite also.' And he says, 'He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword,' and he says, 'Love thine enemy.' Jesus could have raised an army against the people that persecuted Him. He didn't. So, that's what I was pointing out in my speech. And I couldn't really imagine Jesus – like, I couldn't imagine how Jesus would vote. Jesus was the Prince of Peace. Would the Prince of Peace vote for a war president? But Washington didn't let that statement go unchallenged. "Jesus also went into the temple and kicked everybody out," he interjected. "So some people..." "That's kicking the money-changers out of the temple," said Streep. "So the money-changers should get out of Congress. I agree. And out of the church, and I agree." "He didn't – He didn't only say 'turn the other cheek,' though," continued Washington. "You got to read the whole book. That's not all He said." "Oh, I do read the book," said Streep. "I do, too, and that's not all He said," said Washington. "Like I said, he did go into the temple and cleared the place. Well... "Of money," said Streep. "Money's bad." "OK, well, we're all – we all make – make money," said Washington. "Yes, thank God," said Streep. "So does that make us bad?" asked Washington "Maybe He's talking about us. "Well, yeah, maybe," said Streep. |

LOL If money's so bad, why she got so much of it? She can't read The Bible too much or too well, because it clearly says,"The LOVE of money is the root of all evil". LOL It's odd that Denzel didn't point out the verse about "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" when she got on some,"Jesus is the lilly white Prince of Peace and we should turn the other cheek." I ain't tryna be funny or even "hateful", but caucasions are just the most constipated beings on this Earth; as full of crap as they can be. But what can we expect from the descendants of those who came to our land with their bibles in their left hands and their rifles in their right to "civilize" us through "slavery", saving us from our "heathen" ways. "Bun dem! Jomo Kenyatta: “When the European colonisers came to Africa, we had the land and they had the Bible. They asked us to close our eyes and pray. When we opened our eyes we found that they had the land and we had the Bible.” "The events which transpired five thousand years ago; five years ago or five minutes ago, have determined what will happen five minutes from now; five years from now or five thousand years from now. All history is a current event." ~ Dr John Henrik Clarke *ehem* But anyway, back on subject. (How ya doing by the way, ABM? My big bro. :-) ) I do not think that money makes anyone bad. I think that it is, rather, the illusions that many accept when they come into more money (lol or even just a "little" bit of it) that suggest that they are "above" people who do not have as much (money). Money itself is brainless. Money has not the power to separate people in such ways. It is not the "money" that makes people foul, it is the unbalanced "egos" of those people that usually make them foul. |

Watastar, Greetings! I am well. And you appear to be in your usual ebullient spirits. I hope that you are good too. Yeah, looks like Denzel kinda did a lil’ Vulcan mindtrick on the unsuspecting Streep. Because he’s a preacher kid, he has probably had MANY conversations like that before and Streep didn’t know what she was getting into. I wish Denzel had said to her "If you truly loved Jesus, you would give most of your million dollar movie paychecks to needy Christian churches/organizations." I’ll bet an uppity Yale-grad like Streep would have turned redder than a pepper pudding. |

Why thankya, ABM. You so preshiss.. :-) You know there is a proverb associated with the Cree people that suggests: ""Only after the last tree has been cut down, Only after the last river has been poisoned, Only after the last fish has been caught, Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten." Wonder how long it will take people to realize that. On another note though, LOLOL I bet she did want to say,"Aw you sassin' me, Bwoy?" ahaha LOLOL@ turning red as pepper pudding
