Anthony Anderson Arrested for Aggravated Rape Wed, Jul 28, 2004, 08:07 PM PT LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Anthony Anderson, known mainly for his comedic roles in films such as "Scary Movie 3," "Kangaroo Jack" and "Barbershop," was charged on Wednesday (July 28) with raping a woman in Tennessee. The 33-year-old actor and another man, Wayne Witherspoon, 42, reportedly trapped, assaulted and took photographs of a woman who was working as an extra on Anderson's latest movie "Hustle & Flow" on Tuesday afternoon (July 27). According to an explicit affidavit on TheSmokingGun.com, the woman says she was lured into a film trailer at the Shelby County Corrections Center in Memphis by Witherspoon, who then exposed himself to her. Both men then allegedly removed the victim's clothes, "assaulted her with their hands and took pictures of her while she was nude." http://www.zap2it.com/movies/news/story/0,1259,---22319,00.html Of course Andersen (and his alleged co-hort) are innocent until proven guilty ("blah, blah...yadda, yadda"). But JEEZ, what the @#$% is WRONG with these guys anyway? Are they braindead or something? You would think that recent events like Kobe Bryant's Colorado troubles and rapper Mystical recent rape conviction would have taught these guys that the era of being able to wield their celebrity to indiscriminately reap seckual favors from an perpetual assortment of obliging female groupies, interns, assistants, fans is officially OVER.

I am amazed at how these male celebrities continue to risk it all for a brief excursion into perversion. Talk about thinking with their penises instead of the brains! tsk-tsk! |

I will agree that having a strange woman to your room at 2 pm or to your trailer on a movie set is a bad idea--but I am speaking from hindsight, with the realization that it is every male's fantasy to lay some strange woman at the first meeting, as stupid as this is in the age of AIDs and set up. No, they ain't braindead. They are your typical male. ain't nobody going to stop doing it, unfortunately. Like Franklin Ajaye says, "He doesn't think with his d*** his d*** thinks FOR him." That's who gets to do this sort of thing. Athletes, people in show biz. This thing is as old as Fatty Arbuckle, Charlie Chaplin and Erroll Flynn (maybe Antony and Cleopatra). I just wish I could get some femme fatale who would get one of these chumps in a compromising position so we could milk him for every dime he's got--what do you say, Cynique? |

Chris, I hear you. We are what we are and will (unless we are forced to do otherwise) do what we do. So I ain't gonna even try to front like under certain 'situations' most of us couldn't get similarly 'caught up'. But, unlike the days of Chaplin/Flynn, there is growing public and media pressure being applied on the police/courts to hold celebrities accountable for their (alleged) crimes. So, I don't know, it seems to me if I was some bigshot movie or sports star and I wanted to on occassion get all freaky-deaky with a "strange woman", I would - Yeah ladies, I know this is crass - just hire a trusty/discreet escort service. Well, anyway, I like Anderson. He has a warmhearted persona. So I hope if he is genuinely innocent of what he is being accused, he is fully exonerated, he continues his entertainment career and can patch things up with his family. But if he's proven guilty, well, I hope he do the right time for the crime and his victim is protected and nursed back to good physical and emotional health. |

Next time I run across as femme fatale, I'll approach her about your idea, Chris. (And lest you think I'd try and entrap Viggo, think again. Nobody would believe that I resisted his advances.) |

Abm: Au contraire--Erroll Flynn underwent a very public trial for statutory rape and Chaplin avoided jail by marrying the victim. Abm--put together the typical man's libido, fueled by who knows what chemical substances, pressure, and ego trips, the glamour that surrounds these guys and blinds these victims (I know a guy who used to get laid because he was just the one of the road managing crew for a big group and women wanted to get backstage)--I mean, imagine what changes the average woman would go through if me or you asked them to our trailer--"Whatchoo want to take me back there for?" "Whatchoo think?"--forget about it. This is why these guys pay pr people, lawyers and fixers--I read Elvis and Sylvester Stallone had to pay out so much hush money it was damn near breaking them. But something I thought I would never encounter with you I see here--you don't know Anderson. You know his persona--or one of them. How do you know if you like him? |

Chris, I think it bears noting the that what was unique about Flynn and Chaplin was their offenses involved minors. So the press/public scrutiny barometer was lower here. You probably also know that that famed director Roman Polankski has avoided visiting the U.S. because there is an outstanding warrant for his arrest stemming accusations of his having committed statutory rape over 20 years ago. I think had there not been minor children involved, whatever happened (voluntary, involuntary, whips-n-chains, etc.) would have been easily covered up by their handlers and the press. Funny you mention Elvis and Stallone doling out hush money. I seem to recall Chris Rock joked during his most recent HBO special that for similar reasons expressed here he has paid the tuition of more Howard University coeds that the United Negro College Fund. I am not saying I like Anderson personally. I just enjoy him as an entertainer. So I would hate to see his life/career preempted via false accusations. But, hey, if he did it, the law should throw the book at him like it would anyone else who committed the same crime. Cynique, I suppose were that you with your favorite 1/2 Dutchman it would have been HIM who ran screaming from a trailer. |

Not Dutch, Abm. Danish. I would never impose myself on V. Half the fantasy is about him wanting me. And he once did in another life. And does now on another plane. Everything I know about him convinces me that he is my soul mate. And if you want me to stop boring you and everybody else about this crazy subject, then stop encouraging me! |

Hey is it rape if they don't have sex? It doesn't say they had sex with her. I can see an assault and battery charge which is still a felony in some states, but did they (alledgedly) commit rape? |
