Is anybody watching? What do you think? I ain't watching--Democrat or Republican they remind me of mindless Hitler rallies--the speakers? Yesterday has beens Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Bill Clinton and Great White Hope Hillary Clinton-- What they all ought to do from this point till November is flash a disclaimer when they get up that says--"Warning. Will say anything to get your vote" Is that Cynical enough for you, Cynique? |

You're not cynical, Chris, you're idealistic because you apparently don't realize that politicians are pragmatists. BTW, will you squander your right to vote by not participating in this process, or will you cast your ballot for Ralph Nader? |

Chris, DITTO! I didn’t watch a single moment of the convention last nite. And, although I MAY try to catch Cinny’s homeboy Obama, I will pass on the rest of it as well. I got my fill of propagandistic pep rallies while I was in high school. |

Cynique: I keep forgetting you live in Mayberry and the most exciting thing you guys got going is sitting around down at the grocery store/post office waiting to see if the latest Sears Catalogue has come out. BTW in case the news hasn't reached you yet, the Allies won WWI and the Kaiser abdicated. I would rather watch paint dry. In fact, I just might. |

Abm and Cynique: According to Matt Drudge the ratings for that abomination were at an all time low--so much for getting that post convention bounce. I have the feeling we are in for 4 more years of Bush. |

Chris, I told you that months ago. This one's got massacre (ala Reagan v Mondale) written all over it. And after November, the Dem's will continue committing political suicide by hocking this Hillary for President fiasco. If you looked up your aforementioned "watch paint dry" phrase in google, about a 1,000 pics of Kerry are sure to pop up. Boy! Gore blew it. Didn't he? |

A_woman: It doesn't matter what we want or think. It is obvious that the two party system is dead and the experiment in American Democracy is over. The rich folks got Bush and put him in there and they will have to be the ones to get him out and it looks like they like him just fine. Abm: The Dems are going along with the program. Everyone of those stiffs last night--Carter, Gore, Clinton and Clinton, is set for life if not a millionaire. Kerry still has his millions win or lose. I mean, you are running against a sitting President and you tell your speakers not to bash him? Why should we vote for you if he's okay? |

You keeping forget that I live in Mayberry because you never remembered it, Chris. Nobody says that history has to be exciting or that it has to be rosy and optimistic. But history for history's sake is not something that should be ignored. You have such tunnel vision that your sites are never set upon anything that causes you to think outside of your rigidly narrow concepts. I don't apologize for spending a couple of hours watching a live presidential convention rather than all of that other crap that's stinkin up the TV. Furthermore, I am not putting my money on Kerry winning, and my life will not drastically change if he doesn't. I have always said that time brings change, and I am well aware that America as we know it will gradually mutate. What you are babbling about is neither earth-shattering or profound. |

Cynique, I don't think you should let Halle skeeze up on your man Viggo. Because after seeing her throw down with Billy B. Thorton in "Monster Ball", I think she might be able to teach you a thing or 2 on how a sistah can deal it down on a White dude. |

Halle is a paper tiger. With all of her provocative beauty she can't keep a man. My biggest fear where Viggo is concerned, is Brad Pitt. They Gay site voted him and Viggo as being the 2 guys they'd most like to see get it on. And when Viggo was told this, he had nerve enough to smirk, "I've always liked Brad Pitt." Oooh, me. |

Well, I watch tonite's portion of the Dem's Convention just long enuff to catch Obama. He did pretty well. His delivery and presentation was often a bit hasty and showy. But given time, dude looks like he could become a major political star. JEEZ! After all the @$$kissin and bouquets I sure hope Dude gets elected. Cynique, I agree there appear scant evidence can hold down a man, regardless of her wealth/beauty. Considering that I don't know her personally, this probably isn't a fair thing to say, but one's got to figure chick is some kind of nut. There's this alleged phenomenom that afflicts many who achieve any degree of stardom in LA called LA Gay. It is sort an affected form of homosexuality that prevail among the Hollywood set, even amongst those who might never otherwise behave even remotely gay. Perhaps fame is causing your beloved Viggo is being suffering from a lil' bit of that. |

A_womon, I think a crowd is about to form around your "Obama for President" cheers. Yeah. I caught how he touched on Cosby’s recent rants. He quite subtlety agreed with YET reminded Cosby (and his rhetorical supporters) that poor Black foks are as just as aware of and are earnestly struggling with the problems Cosby (so irascibly) cited. Obama is smoother than a cat-burgler. Ain’t he? If he keeps his nose clean and don’t sell out (too much), he may quickly become a force in the Senate and beyond. After seeing Baraka get down, ‘The Committee to Elect Hillary Clinton President’ crowd must be pi$$ing their pants right now. Cause dude’s looks like he may have superstar written all over ‘em. PS: To touch on another subject that we have recently discussed in-depth - Notice that his wife is ‘darker’ than he is. |

Cynique, HAHA! I agree it is funny how I have helped to indulge your Viggo-fixation. I am not sure why. I suppose it is because I am intrigued by how one who otherwise appears quite coolly cavalier and aloof about virtually everything else can become so smitten by actor that she acts like a teenage girl. I suppose, in a strangely perversed why, I am slightly turned on your Viggo-worship. |

ABM, What has gotten into you here lately?? Whatever it is I hope it sticks around for awhile! We have AGREED on quite a few things around here. Yes I felt that Obama said it like cosby could have, because he didn't distance himself from the problem ala cosby, but included himself within the problem; example If any grandmother in our community is struggling with paying for her medication it may not be my grandmother but it's MY problem..... he made this statement several times replacing it with other people/situations in our community. I LOVE HIM!! His wife looked good yes I got ya! Peace.

We here in Illinois are all very proud of our Obama. What is really amazing is how white voters all over the state have embraced him. Incidentally, Jesse Jackson was grooming his son for the role that Obama is now ascending to, and poor Jesse has to have mixed emotions about this Obama phenomenon. But, that's politics. Also, since this Bill Cosby thing continues to surface, why can't all of his detractors see that he was using the "tough love" tactic. And that's because the ongoing practice of coddling and enabling slackers obviously hasn't produced any results. |

A_womon, Funny. I don’t recall our previously disagreeing on much of anything. But if we are now achieving an amiable meeting of minds perhaps it is YOU my young friend who are smartening up. Hehe! Cynique, I think we often don’t give White people enough credit for being able to get pass their prejudice. But maybe Obama multi-cultural acclaim will help prove you Illinoisans and the rest of us that we do share real bonds and affection. Or maybe they just like him because he's lightskinned, biracial...and they think he's cute. Who knows? I too imagine Jackson has some mixed feelings about Barak’s political ascendancy. But everyone knew your incumbent Senator decided not to run for re-election. So Jesse Jr., who is already in the US Congress and who until a few months ago had a much bigger name than Obama, had his chance to go for it. But he didn’t. Hey, your famous daddy can do only so much for you. At some point, every man must grow some cajones and stand on his own 2 feet. Maybe Viggo reminds you of some cool, hippie (molesting?) White teacher you had in high school. |
