instead of voting against one? Although I haven’t paid much attention to what the candidates are saying I’m not impressed with Kerry from the little I have heard. And it really doesn’t matter. I just know Bush needs to go. Now. I felt the same in the last election with Gore.

Oh well, hopefully there will be some propositions on the ballot for me to get interested in. That’s what usually happens. Although I'm afraid that damn Ward Connerly is preparing to rear his ugly behind again . . . sigh.

Anything interesting on the ballot where you are?

Not so far, although whether to allow local casino gambling is becoming a hot-topic in Chicagoland, and some kind of a referendum might make it on the ballot!
I agree Kerry is lackluster. Seems like he's adopted a wait-and-see attitude, trying to figure out a strategy to appeal to a broad segment of the populace. After all, inspite of everything, millions of Americans still believe we should stay and fight in Iraq, and I suspect these same voters don't give a shit about what was done to Iraqi prisoners.

It doesn't matter what the Massachusetts senator does. This one's reeks of 1984's Reagan v Mondale. Bush will massacre Kerry in November.

Abm:

I am beginning to believe that the Big Boys, or a bunch of them, have decided to dump Bush because he couldn't do what he said in Iraq--I suppose you don't remember the promises that all the troops would be out by June or that the Iraqis and our allies would pay for the war--

They do. If he doesn't pull a rabbit out of the hat he may pull a Johnson--ie decide he is not going to run

Chris,
Perhaps. But who will they "dump" Bush for Kerry, who - though a distinguished warhero - many people consider to be a lily-livered, Jane Fonda-hugging, New England, commie, pinko b@$+@rd.

Sorry, I just don’t see that happening.

And I know Bush’s current problems in Iraq seem formidable now. But by the Fourth of July, most of his troubles will be washed away in a sea of Red, White and Blue.

See, White foks are scared. And even though they are uncomfortable with some of Bush’s actions, they will ultimately conclude that it is better to go with a guy who will kill the "bad guy" before he gets the bg can kill them. To the majority of the electorate, especially those with electoral votes, it will be as simple as that.

You may as well break out those spanking new "Hillary for 2008" pennants now.

I think the presidential race is up for grabs and the polls are starting to reflect this. Also, too many powerful white men in high places are starting to see the folly of this war and are realizing that Bush and his posse are no longer operating in the best interest of the country. A clear picture will start to emerge after the GOP and Dems national conventions are over.

Cynique,
The polls had Mondale ahead of Reagan in the Summer of ’84, yet Reagan won +45 of the 50 states that November.

It’s very EARLY, darling. Polls only tell you what someone claim they MIGHT do today, now what one WILL do on election day.

So again, I say unless, by Labor Day, Kerry, who has the personality of drying paint, morphs into one of his more charismatic Dem predecessors JFK or FDR; come January, Rumsfeld and Condolessa will be dancing the Texas 2-Step at Dubya’s 2nd inaugural ball.

Abm:

He may be a lily livered, Jane Fonda Hugging, New England pinko but he's THEIR lily livered, Jane Fonda Hugging, New England pinko--they intend to try to sell the same soap with a different face.

Re the original thread here--I haven't voted FOR anybody since I started to vote--always for the "lesser of two evils"

I was still voting for evil.
