OK, I wanted to get down with Carl Weber's Urban Books, one of the publishers making the most of the Street Lit phenomenon. Reading the book I was reminded of one of those blaxploitation movies of the 70's--Mike, "Vicious" Black a semi-retired dope dealer, falls for Cassandra "Shy" Sims a fine, college educated dope dealer and they stick it to The Man. I think Donald Goines fans would like the book it lacked the grit and realism he was able to bring to his ghetto fantasies. I didn't think it was up to Himes Moseley or Iceberg Slim. I wonder if the book had been edited. Though there were no egregious mispellings or typoes, a few places in the text one lost track of who was talking or what they were talking about.
