I just started a 1st novel by Ian Smith - The Blackbird Papers. A more-than-murder-mystery: so far so good. Anyone reading Walter Mosley's Little Scarlett? I really enjoyed it and plan on giving it to my Dad for Christmas. He doesn't read much but he was a sheriff during the '65 riots and Mosley's descriptions are good and I think my dad will get a kick out of Mouse. Plus, I have trouble thinking of things to get the man! |

Cynique - Would love to hear your thoughts on Life of Pi when you're done! It took me until page 103 to totally get into it - but after that I inhaled the story. |

Wow! I really love the diversity of the titles posted. I have read Sugar by Bernice Mc Fadden, The Tortilla Curtain by T.C. Boyle, The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing. All three are excellent reads! I'm currently trying to get through Beowulf and will begin Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. I will probably pick up something that will not be so involved to read while I reading Frankenstein. Also, I'm going to the library tomorrow to get something on audio book that I can listen to during my ten hour drive to North Carolina. REK |

Who else has read The Things I Could Tell You by JL Woodson? This young brother caused quite a stir during the Book Expo, couldn't find a copy of his book anywhere. Saw him again recently at the Harlem Book Fair and couldn't get one THERE, either! Can't wait to read the book though. He was so well-mannered, well-spoken, and humble; I wish him the best. Nice to see cats his age writing books and educating others instead of clamoring for record deals. |

Shame on you two ..........but hey, if not you then who. We don't mind, in fact we love it. But for sure we've had others stop by and try to make a mockery of the process by taking advantage of the open policy. AALBC offers a service that you might want to check out and I believe you'll be glad you did. As I've said, we don't mind so everything is cool, thanks. Carey |
