Since other forms of entertainment such as movie and video games have ratings, do you think books should have them as well? Maybe an "X" for explicit sexual content or a "G" for general audiences. |

Don't they already do that (have "Adults Only") on the covers and aren't they stocked in "You Must be 18 to Look at Books in this Section" sections? |

Good question, Emmanuel. I never thought about books having ratings. But now that you mention it, perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea. I have definitely come across what, to me, is objectionable content in books, and so I use the library a lot more than I used to (that way, if I take umbrage at something the author writes, at least I haven't paid to be offended--ha ha). Of course, rating books begs the question of who, exactly, will determine what is "G" rated and what is "X" rated? Sigh. |
