For years Thump has been calling me ol'grayhead, so I thought it only fitting to show that at one time in my life I had black hair. Of course it's been a loooong time ago but hey, I did. Check out those clothes AND that hair. One of these days I'll have to courage to show up at a BEA and show the "new" Carey Youth, I wish I could buy a can of it. Ol'Grayhead (Carey)& Miss Ann, AALBC Postee's, Member's, since 1998

Miss Ann is gorgeous in this picture. MISS ANN IS GORGEOUS IN THIS PICTURE! I don't see no gray hair in that dude's head but Abm is right. He did marry up. (just a joke, Carey. I've seen your wrath and I don't want any part of it) Exactly how old is this picture anyway? I wanna know exactly how much gray to color into your head to make it look up to date. |

Thank you, all of you, I know Ann is smiling, thank you very much. I have to share this with you. Before Ann left we were talking about the board and out of nowhere she said, "oh, btw, you can tell your Internet girl friends that they don't have to address their e-mails to you AND ME anymore, like they really wanted to share words and pictures with me, please". I sat there sorta stunned, and of course I said, "what are you talking about". She looked at me with that "don't play me for no fool" look. I said, okay whatever. She replied, "come on Carey, do you really think those women cared what I look liked , and do you really believe they care what I think about a book?" I looked at her kinda puzzled and she said, "you can look all stupid and innocent if you want to but I'm a women and I know better". I said, "okay", and she said, "yeah okay". If you guys remember, Ann never hit the board, I mean she didn't get on the computer at all, I did all the typing whenever she wanted to express an opinion about a book or talk to her "boyfriend" Thumper .Anyway, before we settled in for the night, she looked over at me and said, "did you really think I didn't know how to read e-mails, did you REALLY think I didn't know how to get on line? I looked back at her kind of bewildered and said, ahhh goodnight babe, she said, "good night babe, I love you". Wow, what a woman, what a night. I really appreciate all of you letting me share our little bits of life over the years, thanks for being there! Carey Carey |

Carey, Well said. And agree. You can fool some of the people all of the time, and even all of the people some of the time but when your wife knows and love you, you ain't fool her...ANYTIME. I consider myself to be pretty clever dude. But man, my woman has 'peeped my game' (well, what little I have left) EVERYTIME. HAHA! |

Crystal, Ssssssss, hush girl, pick your hand up, they peepin' our hold card . Hi Soul-Sister, I still love that name. It's always good to hear from you. Dang, we got all the gang coming out, that's sooooo cool! ABM, I'm feelin' ya, yes I am. EVERYTIME. You know I know what your talking about. Hey, I couldn't even get something past Ann on the phone. I'd say something like, " Hey baby, I'm alright, I'm just hangin' out", she'd say, "Carey, what's going on, you alright". I'd pause a little and ask her why she's asked that and she'd say, " You don't sound right". BUSTED.....Busted and I ain't even got into my lie . Yeah, I know man, I know. Well Sisgal, same back at ya. If loving you is wrong.....I...... There I said it and don't let it go to your head. Carey |

Crystal, I read you post again and it reminded me of a few things. You said, "I guess Ann busted me out". Although I am sure you were kidding, Ann used to call me a gullible fool. There were times when we would be out to a social affair and upon arriving home she would ask me why did I let "that" women be all up in my face smiling and things. I would say "baby what are you talking about"? She said, "You know what women, that women that had her little sister's dress on and that cheap perfum, that acted like everything you said was soooooo interesting, that women". I said, "Baby I wasn't paying no attention to that women, she was just talking". "You might not have been", she said, "but she had something else on her mind". I said with a laugh and a smile, "you crazy". She laughed and said, " I may be crazy, but you a gullible ol'fool laughing and talkin' with that lady like y'all best friends". So Crystal, I thought I'd share that with you after reading your post. Btw, I asked Ann that if she felt that way about those that I exchanged e-mails and pictures with, pictures of me and her, why didn't she say something. She said, "Baby, I've been with you all my adult life, I've loved no other man but you and I've watched women look at you over and over again". She paused and then continued, " I used to worry about that, I used to think that maybe I wasn't pretty enough or maybe I wasn't sexy enough and one day one of those women would take you away from me but I had to let that go". She started chuckling a little and said, "I remember calling your mother one day when you wasn't home, telling her of my concerns. She told me I had a very nice wardrobe and then asked me who bought all them clothes and I told her you did. Then she asked me who was the father of my children, and I said, you were. And then Carey she said something that I've never forgot. She said, "Ann, that man loves you, he ain't going no where. If he was going to leave he would have been gone. You two have been together since you where 18, you've made it through the hard times. Women are going to look at him, he's a nice looking man and they are going to wish they were you but THEY AIN'T, they ain't you and he loves YOU"! Ann continued, She said, "so babe, I let that go, you are my man, I wash your dirty socks, I make sure your clothes are cleaned and pressed, I make sure this house is clean, our house. Over the last few years I've watched you struggle with MY pain. I saw you cry when the doctor gave us the news. So if those women enjoy talking with you and sharing pictures, that's fine. Because when you get off your computer, I know you're coming upstairs to OUR bed, you're my man and I love you". "Besides", she said, "don't no women want their man all up underneath them anyway, I'm glad you have something to do that you enjoy and if it makes you happy, am pleased". I put my arms around her and said, "baby I love you", she looked at me and said, " I know it babe, now get back downstairs and make somebody laugh". So Crystal, again, although I know you were kidding, you made me think about my baby and the good moments, the good times and for that I thank you. Crystal you will have to excuse me, as you can see/tell I am not a writer, so if my little skip down memory lane was hard to follow am sorry. Sometimes I have a need to talk about ANN and ......well, you just happen to be here, I miss her . Carey |

See what I mean? Class Act! Your mother too. Thanks for that story. I’m glad you are able to remember those happy times and are able to smile – the healing continues. My SO, a very funny man – kept everybody laughing, died of cancer in October 02 and every once in a while me and our son think of something he said or think of what his reaction to something would have been and we just laugh. It helps. Take care Carey, it does get easier – a little.

Thanks Crystal, I agree, it does get easier. Sometimes the road is rather steep, sometimes doubt crowds out hope, sometimes the burden is unbearable, however faith, blind faith is the only thing smokin' and I hold on. I visitor to this board, and I hope she doesn't mind me sharing this but the author Kathleen Cross went through a simular situation, she lost her love in an accident. We shared our stories. We shook our heads in agreement upon reading each others struggle. We laughed at ourselves in agreement to how far down we fell upon losing our loves. But she shared how she managed to overcome, how she found the will and the way to continue. Because as you most certainally know, life takes on a different meaning and if one can not find a reason to continue, giving up becomes a real obtion. So Crystal thank you for sharing and you too keep your head up and laugh, laugh loud and hard with that son of yours everytime the memories provoke you to do so. Lets face it, life is nothing but memories, good and bad. How one deals with them will determine their usefulness to themselves and others. Thanks again, holla. btw, I'm sure your S.O. was a good man because behind every good man you'll find.....yes, a wonderful woman! Carey |

Hello All Crystal, I think it was you that mentioned the flower in the photo, well (am really going to date myself now) back in the day, when a women wore a ribbon in her hair it meant something. If she wore it on her left side it meant she was available or not actually involved with another, now if she wore it on the right side it meant she taken, she belonged to someone. You will notice **cough cough ** that my baby had her's fully leaning to the right, okay. I made the mistake of mentioning or hollering back to some that had commented on the post and not others, It wasn't my intention, I usually just sit down and write whatever comes to mind. But believe me, I truely appreciate everyone that hollered. Isn't it just great that we have this ....this means to communicate. I just love it. I wish I could just reach out and give everyone of you a great big hug, and to the ladies maybe even a peek on the cheek. Ivyleaf, thank you for being the first to holla. We've never had a conversation but I've read plenty of your posts, thanks for being around. BlingBling, I know I ran at you pretty hard on one of the posts, what did you say, "Damn Carey, what you been smoking", sorry I get carried away some times. Your comment of the photo was too much, Damn, you know my lady is smiling behind that! Linda, how could I forget to reply to you. Maybe because we have a secret huh.....Hey, I liking your book and I will be posting a comment or two about it real soon, thanks. That reminds me, I haven't been posting my little "reviews" lately. Well I have a few to get to but I've been pretty busy. I'm about to get into another book that was sent to me by Glenville Lovell, it's called, Love and Death in Brooklyn. Glenville is an author you guy need to get up on. He wrote the novel Too Beautiful To Die, oh yeah, that Glenville. Hey Thump.....I was about to ask you something that I already know the answer to so, did you enjoy Too Beautiful To Die? The only problem I have with Glenville's book is the first page. It didn't have an AUTOGRAPH. See, I like the little sometin-sometins that the authors say. Some can be cookie cutter types and others have a little personal touch to them. For instance Kathleen wrote: To Carey thanks for taking an interest in the book of this firs time author I hope you will let me know if you enjoyed the read! Stay Blessed. Leslie Esdaile: To Ann & Carey, I hope you both enjoy this story Thanks for your support. Kola: To Ann, I've heard you mentioned so much at AALBC.Com - I feel you're a celebrity. Hope you're well, God Bless K Elliott: (Entangled) To My Peeps, Carey, Thanks for keeping it real with a brotha, one love! Camika: To Ann, Thought-Word-Deed, I wish you success on all future endeavors. Linda Watkins (Althea): Carey Thanks for always keeping it real! Enjoy! Toni: Thanks for making me laugh and keeping the other in line, I hope Ann and you enjoy the book. Dr. Allen Ballard (Where I'm Bound) To Carey & Ann, Lovers of African American Literature, with my very best wishes. Thanks for your help in bringing "Where I'm Bound" to the attention of the visitors at AALBC and the viewing public. God Bless & keep you always. Okay that's enough, someone might think I'm name droppin'.........hell, I am . But really, I love the little scratches they put in the book. It brings back memories and are simply just nice to read. Some have said the resale price of collector books drop when they are personalized. S*^t, I ain't trying to sale no damn book, I'm loving them. Why on earth would I sell an autograph? I know, money, but some things are more valuable/important to me than money. Now, I don't know where this post started or how to end it, what the heck have I been talking about. Tee, thanks for the remarks....familiar huh, stop it girl . Bimsha, I don't believe we have met, hi, thanks. Emanuel, if you have the book (re: cover) I am game for a release. What a tribute that would make! Souloffherfather, thanks, now stop axing so many questions *smile*. Let me ask a few. Are you an author? So you have any books on the market? How many years have you been married? Does your husband still make you feel like a queen? Do you keep a clean house? Can you cook? Now.......get back with me Hey, I think it only right that I apologize to Thump for turning his board into a coming home party of sorts. Just the other day someone said to me, "Thumper don't get on you like he does everyone else, see that ain't fair". You know what I told them, I said, "ahh get out of here, your breathe stinks, I've paid my dues, Thump has been on my behind plenty of times but lately I haven't given him much reason to call me out. Anyway, thanks Thump for letting me post and I owe you. BTW, what is Negrotude? Is that a play-play name or is it related to having a black attitude? Okay, that's it, anymore will have to hit me at my e-mail. |
