Has anyone read the new book of stories out called, Stories by Ron Raye? I read it just the other days and it's an interesting read. There are six stories in this collection and all are very interesting. I particularly like The Shopkeeper set on the island of Barbados. The trials and tribulations of a shopkeeper in a village on the island of Barbados is played out against the hostile posture of unsatisfied customers. A shopkeeper is loathed, slander and ostracised by customers resulting in the collapsed of a once striving grocery store business and eventually her disappearance. In another story, The Weekend Lover, a married woman from the caribbean island of Barbados is strickened with loneliness while living in the City of New York which provides the temptation for an extra-marital affair. In another story Googly, a woman is held hostage in her own home by an abusive and possessive husband. The other stories are equally as good as the ones I mention, but it is worth a read. Another book will be out soon by the same Author called, The West Indian. I got my copy from Amazon.com, anybody interested, check it out and tell me what you think. |
