Hello All, As we all know Ray Charles passed yesterday. I don't know how many of you know but several years ago, he, along with David Ritz, penned his autobiography Brother Ray. I'm including a link to the book here. I am still a little shaken over Ray Charles death. He was one of my favorites artists of all time. He easily makes my desert island list (you know, if I had 10 albums that I could take to a desert island which ones would it be list). It's hard to imagine would music would be like today if he wasn't alive. It can all be traced back to him. I think it would be appropriate for everyone to hear his story from the man himself. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0306813351/aalbccom-20 |

I mourned over Brother Ray much more than I ever would for Ronald Reagan, though I felt sorry for Nancy from time to time. Brother Ray the book is excellent; I read it years ago and loved it then, and read it again in preparation for his inclusion in my humble musical profiles book African American Musicians. When he came to Myrtle Beach to do a show, I was blessed to be probably the only journalist to interview him. God bless Ray Charles. |

I can't wait for the movie about Ray charles life comes out starring Jamie Foxx. The previews that I've seen seem to suggest that Jamie's portrayal will be a good one. |
