I love children's books. If anyone is looking for a great one for the holiday's, I highly recommend this one. The illustrations are exquisite.

How interesting.
Especially considering that in real life these women were lesbian lovers.....and the NightRiders were raided so often by Police in hotels...and caught in lesbian orgies.
I'm a HUGE Bessie Smith fan, so I'm not putting Bessie down or her lifestyle.
But I just find it "bombastic" and "deliberate" that someone turned this into a children's fable.
