Hello All, Yeah, I haven't been on my J-O-B. But you know what...I'm already over it. *smile* For those of you who checked out last month's selection written by one of my favorite authors in the whole wide world J. California Cooper, how did you like it? This month's selection is one off the beaten track, Platitudes & "The New Black Aesthetic" written by Trey Ellis. Platitudes is being republished by Northeastern University Press's The Northeastern Library of Black Literature. As many of you know, I've been a fan and follower of this series for a number of years. So, check it Platitudes and let me know what you think. I have to read it myself. I have to admit that I'm looking forward to it. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1555535860/aalbccom-20 |

Thumper, this is one of my favorites! I found this interesting press release from the U of CA, Santa Barbara newspaper about someone lecturing on Ellis's "new Black aesthetic" theory: http://www.dailynexus.com/news/2005/9150.html |

Read Platitudes when it was first published and enjoyed it very much. If you appreciate Clarence Major, Ishmael Reed, Gil Sorrentino & John A. Williams you should like this book. |
