I noticed that there are a few authors that post here regularly. Some of your names are familar to me and some aren't. If it's not asking too much to ask, could you please tell me your real name (if you are posting undering another one) and what are the titles of your books. I would love to check them out. Thanks |

Hello Michelle You are correct, many that post on this site are authors however most come by here as readers and have too much class to toot their own horn. I will list a few for you but I am sure I will forget many. Linda correct me if I'm wrong but I think the name of your book is ophiela? I know I've blown the spelling buy hey that's me usually gig. Kathleen Cross's book is Skin Deep. Cynique's is ...I believe,....our heck....something...something familysomething (lol)..HELP.. Nichelle Tramble's stops by She writes under the Strivers Row print. Passion's title is LONG TRAIN to the redeeming SIN. Marcus Major is known to visit, one of his books is 4 Guys and Trouble, Solomon Jones Penned a very good book that is also under Strivers Row. Chris Hayden is a poet who is about to get picked up by (this is a secret sorry ). Brian, Thumper's nemesis is Brian Egeston the author of Granddaddy's Dirt and other books. C Web is Carl Weber the author of Baby Moma Drama. K Elliott is the author of Entangled an Urban novel. Delores Thrnton is the author of the delightful books Ida Mae and Babe. Electa is Electa Rome Parks the author of The Ties That Bind. Of course you know that Zane is the ultra popular (and rich I my add) author of the hot romance novel. She stops by until the native start getting silly *smile* Okay Michelle, that should hold ya. Some use their real names and some don't for obvious reason. Again, because they were readers before they were published author they too want to here the what's up on the AA scene and to discuss the issues. There are of course many more lurking in the wings. Hey, write to them you'll be surprised at their response. Carey |

Hello All Well I guess it's time to get my ....huh....well lets just call it my offering on. If any authors are trying to find a voice for their book, published or unpublished authors, I'd be glad to read you works and tell the world about it. I've been doing this for several years and it's a win-win for both of us. Thump calls it begging for books (while he hasn't paid for a book in a thousand years *lol*), I call it smart business . Anyway, I'm not going to print names but many authors have taken me up on my offer. I'm not a professional reviewer oh no, I leave that sort of language for the paid reviewers, those middle of the road hacks *LOL* that write in that reviewer speech, if you know what I mean. I simply, post at other sites as well as this one what I thought/think about the book and my opinion of the authors prospects. Now, if the book is funky don't expect me to call it sweat, I ain't with that although I can always find some positives within/beneath dust. So if you have something that has not reached an audience, or one that has, but is slipping, hit me and we'll talk. Thank you darn1719@mchsi.com Carey Carey |

Hey, Carey, thanks for the welcome mat. I need help getting my novel Sister Katie out to the public. I have a story that needs promotion. I am trying any thing and everything. Budget is zero, so my advertising has been word of mouth and I was hoping to get to the grapevine of literature and on to the public. I teach literacy and English courses. the literacy with teen parents, and English at community college as lecturer. This story, Sister Katie, was ten years in the making, with working and all the other stuff-smile. I like story telling that draws from a well of my primary years in a small midwestern, southern town, although I have lived in Chicago for 40 years--that is what attracts my attention. I enjoy reading books in a southern setting, but certain authors approaches to the north are strong and biting-Richard Wright and then David Bradley in Pa. I think its because they have a sense of the place, not that the setting makes the story. I want the people to know about Sister Katie www.dhuntjorden.com I like to give advice and offer writing solutions. I have taught composition and creative classes for many years, a little fiction writing too. Nice chating Carey. |

Hi Carey and everyone, It's been awhile since I last posted. . . So much has happened; I have wonderful news to share. I think the last time we talked, you were familiar with my book, THE TIES THAT BIND. In fact, Carey, you reviewed it(again, thanks so much!)and initially thought I was a man. (smile) Well, since that time I've released LOOSE ENDS, the sequel. I'm happy to share that both were picked up by Penguin Group/NAL. Life has a wonderful way of fulfilling our dreams. . . just wanted to share. Peace, Electa Rome Parks www.electaromeparks.com |

If you don't mind, I'm going to share what you wrote on the cover *smile*, Lets see, "Carey, You never know who you might meet in Thumper's Corner! Don't be too hard on me". Well dear, ya done good, you're back like an alumna, and with a smile on your face too. I can't tell you how that makes me feel. Someone was raving about you on the board a few months back. Yep, they sure was. I think it was Zane, are you hooked up with her in any copacity?. Heah, you know I gotta get a copy of your new book. I'm at the same old address. That's a secret of course and if you've forgotten it or misplaced it let me know. Okay Electa, thanks again for gracing our block. It's Electa not Electra .......oh how I remeber (lol). Hello Dwayne Welcome to Thumper's Corner. The H.N.I.C., is on sort of a vacation, he's probably and likely reading his board but I don't think he will jump in until he's rested and such. So, I thought I'd extend a hand to you and say thanks for stopping by the block. As you continue to stroll around the neighborhood you'll find an array of information, much of it of course, is related to books. But if we happen to go off and clown around don't worry about it, because let me tell you, you can bet your bottom dollar that we are serious about the world of AA books, and you can take that to the bank. Check this out Dwayne, I've been to a few places in life including Hong Kong and the Philliphines, so I've seen a couple of Around The Way Girls, huh...what, in fact there's a few on my block. Anyway, there's a possibility that you might have something interesting in your new book. Hit me if you think I would like it and wish for me to let others know. Okay, that's it and Good Luck btw, I'm a little behind in my reading and have others to get to, nevertheless hit me and we'll talk. Csrey Carey |

Greetings: I ocassionally lurk observing this board -- today I decided to join the party. I hope you all don't mind. My name is Bernard Alexander McNealy. I am the author of a detective-mystery novel called "A Perfect World: A Perry Richards Novel." I recently became listed on AALBC's author's profile. I like that. Now its time to get the work and sell. I really appreciate the passion and insight exhibited by the participants on this board. I never feel that my time is wasted coming here because I always learn something useful. I will comment though that at times I'm like a fly on the wall of an extended family's Sunday dinner. You have it all, people: A know-it-all, wiser-than-wise self-convinced partiach..an opinionated uncle hollerin' about whoziz 'n whozain't between bites of fried chicken feet..a fine as wine, stacked aunt who ain't really related to anyone..a scrawny cat floating on a sixties high..a blushing church lady wearing a laced up blouse and holding a bottle Kool-aid spiked by some JB..and a girl in a Bill Duke smile with an obnoxious additude. Opps..*&$*! I'm sorry, I was viewing a home-movie as I typed this. That's my family I'm looking at. Darn! Anyway, I hope you catch the humor. As time goes by, I hope that I can participate a word or two. I hope to contribute something of interest. Bernard Alexander McNealy

Hello A_womon, Cynique, and all: Cynique, did you say swill? Hmm. That's strong, but its better than being cast adrift in a cesspool of misguided ramblings. Don't think I can swim in that. Thank you for the welcome. I've observed some of the discussions. I must say, some of it is like observing written throw-down ala Sugar Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns. Seriously, more often than not, the exchanges are insightful and I find myself learning something worthwhile. A_womon, thank you for appreciating the attempted humor. Honestly, there is a sense of kinship, like a family here. It's a pleasure to be a part in some small way -- even if its causing someone to smile. Bernard |

California Author Unveils the Epic Story of Hannibal Barca Scholars admire him. Military academies study him. Now, Rafael Scott brings to life the celebrated military genius, “Hannibal” of Carthage, in his first novel of the epic trilogy — The Lion’s Brood: The Story of Hannibal. It is 238 B.C. The First Punic War has ended and dark times have befallen the great African empire of Carthage. The struggle with Rome for domination of the Mediterranean has left the Carthaginians with shrinking provincial territories and increasing tributes to their merciless northern enemies... the Romans. The famed Carthaginian General Hamilcar Barca has sworn to never give in to these conquerors... and to destroy Rome at all costs. His eldest son, Hannibal, shall be his weapon. At the age of nine, Hannibal is torn from his tight circle of brothers and whisked away to study the strategies of warfare with his father in the distant land of Hispania. And over the next twenty years, a warrior is fashioned... a warrior is born. The Lion's Brood serves as a portal into a time where massive armies collided and destruction reigned over ancient kingdoms. Based on true accounts of the Second Punic War, The Lion's Brood provides a unique point of view of the Carthaginian general as never told. It was written to engage the reader's emotional and visual senses and its fast-paced storyline is indeed a “movie-going” experience from cover to cover. “Two men in history brought the Roman Empire to their knees. One was the son of a carpenter. The other was the son of Hamilcar. This is the story of the greatest military strategist that ever lived... Hannibal.” The Lion’s Brood is available through major book retailers as well as most popular online retailers. Hey you-all, P. Lewis here. Yet another black author and first-time poster. I wrote "Life of Death" and published it with FC2 back in 1993. John A. Williams called it "raging, raw, murderously truthful in statement and vision" and said it had the "power of a nuclear fusillade." Needless to say, I've hardly had shit published since. Oh, well. Just letting you know that I'll be adding my own barbed, wicked, keen and hopefully none-too-mean-spirited observations to the mix as time goes on. My new novel NATE is coming out next February by Back House Books. (Okay, it's my own imprint.) You can read some of it here at http://www.backhousebooks.com/nate_one.pdf P. Lewis |

Hello, my name is Anthony E. Prior I have written a book called Faith On 40 Yards. I am eleven-year professional football player. I spent seven years with the NFL, three of those years with the New York Jets, and four years with the CFL. I am one of the few professional athletes willing to discuss the state of football that the general public never sees, one where racism is subtle, but prevalent. I was voted player representative to the Canadian Football League Players Association by my teammates during the 2003 season. I participated in the evaluation of potential recruits for the Calgary Stampeders. "Faith on Forty Yards says what Lawrence Taylor wanted to say but couldn’t. It says what Barry Sanders should of said but didn’t and what many expected Robert Smith to say but wasn’t voiced. Keyshawn Johnson tried to say it but he wasn’t heard. This book expands on Warren Sapp’s description of the NFL “as a slavery system.” I respect all these men for their contribution to the pro football industry. However, their silence has inspired me." The players that speak up usually get ostracized, labeled as troublemakers or diagnosed as a potential cancer to the team. You known what happens to cancer man! Surgery or chemotherapy! If you buck the system, you’re definitely are a prime candidate for re-education, better known in pro leagues as the trade. Many black players say it’s a slave system, but give us details, give us emotions, give us something to read to articulate, to share with friends, family and ultimately the world. There has been so much talk about the NFL being modern day slavery, but fast talk and useless words can't paint the picture. This book will take you through my career in which I have experienced hypocrisy either personally or through the eyes of my teammates. These experiences will heighten the consciousness of the thousands of young men in pursuit of an NFL career. I believe in the near future, black players will unite and establish a strong voice within the NFL. It has been 102 years since Charles W. Follis took the field, making him the first black NFL player with the Shelby Athletic Club in 1902. We are still competing, not leading. If the slave of the 19th century was in the same arena as the 21st century black pro football player, who would be more influential? Let me know what you guys think I need advise on how to get my book out to the public. Thanks For further information on Anthony Prior please contact him at Jyd41ap@aol.com or Please feel free to visit his website at www.stoneholdbooks.com.

Peace, C.F. Jackson chiming in. I'm the author of Won’t Be Denied: a suspense novel -- a portrait of an obsessed, single African American female. BOOK SUMMARY Maré darted into a bookstore to take shelter from a downpour of rain. To pass the time, she searched for a few home improvement books. Not only did her attention gravitate to the books, but also to an attractive man, who blessed her, after she sneezed. An ordinary day will lead into some unordinary nights. Little did Travis know he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Maré’s heart fell for a kindred spirit; she refused to let go. Love won’t be denied. Where does her desires take her? "It is an easy, suspenseful read." "The character-driven plot is a page-turner." Visit my website to read an excerpt of Won't Be Denied to be available Nov. 9, 2004. www.cfjackson.us

Excerpt from: My Woman, His Wife By: Anna J. in stores 12/20/04 Totally different from the down stairs, her bedroom was decked out in neutral colors. Dark browns, honey, tans, hunter, and maroon made this room look very sexy. Her sleigh bed set up off the floor, and you had to walk up about four steps to climb into it. The furnishings were made out of heavy cherry wood that she has definitely paid some money for. I stood just inside the doorway taking it all in. Monica turned on the stereo, and I felt like I was listening to a late night smooth grooves session on the radio. She walked over to me and took my hand leading me to the steps that lead up to her bed. No words were needed as she slowly undressed me, kissing the body parts that she revealed on the way down. My head was screaming, “get the hell out of here”, but the rest of my body was whispering, “girl, you about to explode so chill.” She walked me up to her bed, and told me to lay flat on my stomach. I did what I was told and closed my eyes, listening to the melody in the background. She straddled me, her warmth and wetness seeping into my pores, and causing a puddle of my own nectar to form under me. The oil she poured onto my back was cool on my already hot skin, but her hands warmed it up in no time. The room smelled like chocolate instantly. Monica was good at what she did, causing all of the tension in my body to leave almost instantly. James became a distant memory as I moaned under the hands of this woman. She kissed the center of my back as she massaged me, her juice caressing my skin from her pressing her clit against me. She ran her hands down between my thighs, her thumb entering my tunnel then pulling out quickly. She traced the outside of my lips with her welled oiled finger, and I moaned like she done put something in me. I don’t even remember turning over, but Monica was kneeling on my right side massaging the front of me, her tongue feeling hot on my sensitive nipples. I tried to stay cool, but my back arched to meet her lips. I was about to cum, and we hadn’t done anything yet. Monica tied a silk scarf around both of my wrists, and attached both arms to the headboard. Now, I was like hold the hell up. I don’t even let James tie me down, but Monica didn’t give me room to protest. She was between my legs and on my clit before I could say anything. It was a good thing my hands were tied because otherwise they would have been holding her head while I glazed her face completely. She took her time “inspecting” me. Monica held both lips open, leaving room for her tongue to explore all of me. My legs were spread into a perfect V while she sucked and licked on me. She put her tongue so far up in me you couldn’t have told me she didn’t touch my cervix. I moaned like crazy and tried to catch my breath because she was pulling orgasms out of me left and right. I felt something cold slide up inside of me, and almost lost it completely. On the side of the bed I noticed amongst the bottles of oils and body butters sat two long and thick dildos made of ice. She must have had three, because one was inside of me driving me crazy. I was exploding all over it, almost ashamed because I was messing up her bedspreads. She sucked on my clit, and worked the ice in and out of me until there was only a small piece left. Silly me thought she would just toss it out. Monica put the ice in her mouth, and pushed it into my cave using her tongue. She would push it up, and suck it out causing a whole ‘nother explosion until it was gone. The fact that my thighs had her in a serious headlock didn’t seem to bother her or mess up her rhythm. She continued to push and pull on my clit until I was screaming for mercy, opening my legs wide so that she could move her head. She leaned up to look at me, her wild hairstyle still in place. She licked my essence off her lips seductively while her middle and forefinger still played around my insides. My walls were gripping her like she had a penis, and soon I found myself exploding again. “Now, I’m going to let you go,” Monica said in a soft sexy voice, “but only if you’re ready to go there.” “Go where?” I asked already knowing the answer. She just gave me one of those “stop playing with me” looks before leaning over to the table next to the bed. “If you don’t know I guess I need to use another one of these,” she said referring to the ice shaped penises she had sitting on the side. I knew for sure I couldn’t take any more of that. “No, I got you. You can untie me now.” She motioned for me to scoot down to the middle of the bed. I did as I was told with my arms still stretched out. She stood over me with her legs on either side of my head. Slowly she bent her knees until her lips rested on mine. My tongue found her opening instantly. She untied one hand, and undid the other once I captured her clit between my lips. I could see Monica’s hands on the wall helping her keep her balance over top of me. I was barely able to reach the table, but was able to snag one of the ice pieces without missing a beat. I continued to stimulate her clit while teasing her with the ice just at the opening of her tunnel. She moaned in appreciation as I teased her with just the head before sliding it all in. Positioning the ice cold sculpture on my chin, she road my face like she was riding a real dick with me capturing her clit in my mouth when she came down, and her pulling it out on the way up. The ice melted quickly from her warmth. Her juices flowed effortlessly. I stuck my index finger in her asshole for good measure, and my girl went wild. She stood up off my face and placed herself softly on my stomach, her explosion running down my sides and forming puddles on both sides of me. She rotated on me with her eyes closed, moaning until it was over. I rubbed her clit with my thumb until her shaking subsided and she was able to open her eyes and look at me. I blushed a little at what just went down, partly because I didn’t think I had it in me to please another woman. Besides the bullshit orgies I had in college, it never got this intense and I never had to use as much of my imagination. I never wanted to. I was always on the receiving end and never had to put much into a performance, so this was something new. Don’t ask what made me do it, but for some reason I looked across the room toward the dresser and the clock caught my eye. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me until I sat up in the bed…

Hey Folks. I´ve just completed my first book and would welcome folks to check out my site at www.geocities.com/distantwhispers. (I am in the process of moving my site to a regularly host server). Being from Philly and regularly encountering folks (and friends) like Karen Quinones Miller, Jill Scott, Ian Glispy, I´ve chosen to go the self-publishing route. My book is three stories of romance that situates itself in the complicated yet exotic minefield of relationships between couples from the various African Diasporan communities (African-American, Afro-Brazilian, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Europan). Many situations in my stories also reflect the social realities that makes some of those hyphens have very little meaning. I would be interested in any feedback from anyone who visits the site, including discussion on other literature that dwells in this area (inter/intra-cultural relationships) Adrian Erik |

Hello...just wanted to add my intro to the mix: I am at work on my first novel, but because of a persistent need for instant gratification, I also write short stories. It's a race to the finish: the novel or a collection of stories. For even more immediate gratification, I am also a columnist online at: http://www.literarymama.com/columns/thegirlismine/ (For literarymama, I also do occasional profiles, reviews, and poetry. When the mood strikes.) and http://www.parentsaction.org/share/parentsstories/mommyjournal/ Peace! |

Hey Sisq...thanks a lot! Sorry for taking so long to respond. I live most of the year in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil and have to access the internet from Internet Cafes. I am still looking into the mechanics of creating a CD with an author's reading of one of the stories. If that is possible, I will send it with the book. Take Care, Adrian |
