Hello All, Below is a link to an USA Today article announcing the finalists for the American Book Award. http://www.usatoday.com/life/books/news/2003-10-15-national-book-awards_x.htm The Known World by Edward Jones is one of the finalists for the Fiction award. Kevin Young is also a poetry finalist for Jelly Roll. I'm so happy that The Known World is getting some major attention. |

Thump, Not to be nitpicky, but Jones (a good guy) is up for a National Book Award. The American Book Award is an entirely different award, and less known/prestigious. Also, please check my thread on the Hurston/Wright Legacy award. I'm happy for Known World and Jones, although I'm not a fan of Kevin Young's work. |
