I posted this earlier this year after my excitement over Keith Lee Johnson's work (Sugar & Spice comes out next month y'all), but thought I'd post it again. Have you ever read a book that you just couldn't stop reading despite the time? Please share the title and author. -Tee |

Hey all, Tee C. -- thanks for the threads especially about the B&B in Washington - that is just down the street from my digs -- I will have to check it out -- as for a book that I cannot put down even when its past my bed time is: Rules for a Pretty Woman by Suzette Francis I had the chance to meet Francis while I was working my Bruce Wayne [librarian gig] and told her about my Batman [part time book reviewer] -- she mailed me a copy and I have been rushing to finish it - it is great The story is about a 30something ob/gyn doctor who has been had by her boyfriend and is upset that her "fertile" years were invested in a loser. There are family trouble - than a diary from her childhood resurfaces and she realizes that she is "better" than what she allowed herself to be - and that is when the story takes off. But what I have really enjoyed is reading about the other women in the story -- whose lives have been impeded by shortsighted decisions - that have had long lasting impacts - WOW is all I can say -- there are about 90 pages left - so when I finish - I will y'all know -- peace ps - another title that I have been working on in the small moments is Honoring Sergeant Carter -- by Allene Carter -- a good read -- but Im finishing one thing at a time - heck plus earning my check - whew its tight but its right - smile |

Hi Soul Sister, you're welcome...wish I could've gone. How was it? One of my members attended, so I'm looking forward to her report. And thanks for the heads up on Rules for a Pretty Woman. This one is on my list too, I think I left it off; so hopefully I'll get to it soon. Sounds interesting!! One of my members read and enjoyed Honoring Sergeant Carter and recommends it. Please let me know how it turns out for you. And, seeing that it's almost two in the morning, I will admit that I stayed up all night reading Trouble Man and really enjoyed it. It's my first time reading Travis Hunter's work, but I love his depiction of men and the importance of family, responsibilities and being a good man. In Trouble Man he's mixed up two sides of society and produced an enlightening story that I would recommend every young boy pick up and read. -Tee |
