I picked this up at the bookstore yesterday and it is excellent. I would highly recommed this book if you have young adults on your holiday list. Proceed with caution it deals with the sensitive subject of rape. Very tastefully in my opinion. |

Thanks for the recommendation. My friend teaches a program for At-Risk Black and Latina girls and she asked me for a list of good books. I am so out of the loop on that but I wanted to give her at least five to start with. I also have "I Hadn't Meant To Tell You This", and "Toning the Sweep". I'd love any other recommendations you have in this area. Peace |

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is an excellent read. Even though the author is not AA, the story is good and deals with female friendships at a crucial age. |

I did not know about this novel. Williams-Garcia's Like Sisters on the Homefront is one of my students' favorite novels. By the way, Jacqueline Woodson has a new novel just released about two weeks ago. The title is Locomotion. I have not had time to read it, however, knowing Woodson, it's a terrific read. REK |
