Can't wait for this to come out. Especially since so many people here are IN IT! LOL Oxford University Professor Zoakes Kingman gave it a provocative thumbs up! I thank Miss Kola for printing me a copy off her PC and letting me read it. ABM...Kola must really love you. I couldn't believe you got mentioned in the Acknowledgments. Anyway, Kola asked me to post the PREVIEW link. http://poetwomen.50megs.com/custom.html

IMPORTANT NOTE: The version of this book listed at Amazon.com is the "cancelled" African version of the book. Do not order it through them. The actual hardback American version comes out in late February of 2004. Kola's Japanese publisher Shueisha (the world's largest publisher) will soon anounce one of their American imprints as the U.S. publisher. Sorry, Kola, for leaving that off the first time.

I, for one, will not be purchasing Kola's biographical diary; I've already read it in her marathon posts. Yawnnnn. |

That was a "sexist" assumption, Chris. I was serious in what I said. Like Thumper, I'm looking for something different and original to read. |

Writing a book about the post office is not on my agenda, Chris. I'm content to live with the memories of what was a very compelling era in my life. |

Anonymous-- Thanks for the compliment. I've begun wearing "makeup" in my new photos is all. So I look less like a writer now..and more like a video hoochie. Hope ABM sees my photo. LOL. Side note--the nude photo (b&w) in Sudan at the bottom--I'm PREGNANT with the 2nd son in that one. They had me hold a bowl over my tummy. Kola

Kola, You know how you can read something 1 or 2 times and, for whatever reason, miss a profoundly important part of the message. Well, I had to do a triple-take on what Daniecia posted above. Kola, is it true that you included lil' ol' 'me' within the Acknowledgments of your Autobiography - DIARY OF A LOST GIRL? If this is true, all that I can say is: WOW! For 1 of the rare times in my life, am virtually speechless. THANK YOU!---THANK YOU!---THANK YOU! I am embarrassingly humbled and gratified by such an honor. You are very beautiful in both photos on the PREVIEW link. To maintain my good manners I shall simply say: It's no wonder so many dudes here in the US and abroad have wanted to get wit' cha. As soon as your book is available for purchase in the US, you can bet that I will be among the very first to buy it and recommend it others. For, notwithstanding your detractors, I am sure that your autobiography will be a rousingly entertaining and successful bestseller, and, more importantly, DIARY OF A LOST GIRL will be a seminal book in the rebirth of the pan-African female. |

Jeeze, ABM, could you have groveled any more? You've inspired me to coin a new phrase: "cyber-whipped." ROTFLOL |

ABM..."ofcourse" I mentioned you in my acknowledgements. You've brightened up my morning coffee as I was finishing the final drafts. That's why I tried to find out your "real" name. But I had to just write--ABM. It's not too late to change it. Thanks for all your kind praises. I'm shocked that I ever finished this book, because it's the only book that was totally NOT my idea. I hated writing it...but now it's done, it's quite good actually. Good enough for Womens Studies and African American Studies courses. THAT good. I adore you, ABM. Thanx so much.

Why My Dear Cynique, if I didn't know better, I might be inclined to think that you are a wee bit "jello" of Kola. |

I knew you would think that, and I'm sure Kola does, too. Your ego is showing. There's nothing for me to be jealous of. |

Actually, Cynique. I never reduce women's actions to mere jealousy. It's always more complicated than that. And I usually resent it when men reduce women's feelings to such a smallness. When females ARE jealous...they tend to clam up, not bark as you do. Of course, I don't give a damn if you read my book or not. It's become so obvious that you can't stand me...and good. I do wish you'd leave my name out of your posts and go wag your tail at someone else's red car.

I think I do a pretty good job of standing you, Kola. It's your proselytizing that makes my eyes glaze over. And, sorry, but I'll mention your name anytime I feel like, if I think it's relevant to what I'm posting about. And, I ain't never denied being a bitch, so your red car ain't safe from my tail wagging, either. BTW, I'm glad you realize that my not reading your book will not impact on its success. Ta-Ta...for now. |

Hello All, I apologize up front, but I can't hold it anymore. Kola, I'm sorry, but to keep hearing about your forthcoming books and not seeing any of them is, to me, like having one of those Viagra-induced erection and no orgasm. Can we at least agree to hold these publicity announcements until we have like a book with a cover, book jacket, etc.? |

You're right Thumper. February is a long way from now. But like Diana Ross...I enjoy a long lead-in Overature.

Miss Kola, It seems to me that with all these people hat'n on you (ie. Thumper, Cynique) and jumping hurdles to expres their dislike of you whenever the opportunity arises--it's probably because you're the next big thing and they jealous. This negativity directed at you here is a good sign of things to come, because most authors couldn't rate this much passion either for or against. Most authors are boring as watching paint dry. The readers as these boards attest are even more bland. They can't stand that you're so fabulous and instead of having a positive attitude about your obvious fondness for them, they giving you the old crabs in a nigger barrel shuffle. Sometimes brothers and sisters ain't worth a quarter. They don't want to learn nothing new, cause only the white folks can teach them anything. But I see big things for you. I visited about six web sites profiling you and only became more and more intrigued by each site!! You're so different that you really don't have any competition. You're gonna be major, Sista Boof. Keep your head up (smile).

Oh yada, yada, yada. Give it a rest, Anonymous. It's so easy to dismiss what people say by attributing it to jealousy. I don't consider Kola a rival of mine, and I am not under the impression that what I do will have any effect on her book sales. We all know about Kola's notoriety ( because she's always telling us.) She's flamboyant and a good writer but I reserve the option as to whether or not I'm going to read her book. I feel like Kola has told me all I want to hear about her life in her extended posts. My reading tastes have become very esoteric of late and I read what I feel like reading, not what is hyped. |

Can we all please respect Cynique's opinion so she can stop applying lacerations? It's becoming very hurtful...and frankly, I greatly appreciate her honesty and I respect her opinion.
