Hey hey all! I've been MIA trying to battle some migraines and attempting to get some rest, so I haven't been online as much as I'd like or visiting the boards, but I'M BACK!!! I HOPE. Because of the migraines, I haven't been reading much, but I did wrap up E. Lynn Harris' memoir and I can't remember what I read before that. ROFL. I hope to jump back into the boards though...and on my list to read, I have: She'll Learn by Sybil Barkley-Staples Nervous by Zane No More Mr. Nice Guy by C. Kelly Robinson The Bridge by Solomon Jones Minion by L.A. Banks That's it for now. What are YOU ALL reading? -Tee |

I just finished No More Mr. Nice Guy. It was pretty good. I think that he is supposed to have a sequel to that next year. I also just finished Sisters of the APF by Zane. That was good too. I wonder if there are going to be any other books about the APF. I'm now reading "And On The Eighth Day She Rested" by J.D. Mason. It pretty good so far. |

I am starting Pearl Cleage's novel Some Things I Never Thought I'd Do. It's a refreshing novel. Great writing. Cleage does voice very well. |

Hi Radiah, I need to wrap up No More Mr. Nice Guy as well...I put it aside to meet a deadline and hope to get back to it this weekend. Have you finished 8th Day yet and if so, how did you like it? I read this one when it was self-published and also read the re-released version. I think Mason "does an awesome job of letting us view the entire journey and transformation of Ruth. We not only see the physical abuse she received, but also the emotional heartaches she endures. Through these we see how her state of mind improves and strengthens. Mason presents issues of self-love and self-worth, overcomoing your fears, and making the most of life when we're expected to fall down and crumble." A wonderful, wonderful read! -Tee |

Barbara, yes Cover Girls is a novel from TD Jakes...although he had a ghost writer. One of the top Christian Fiction writers wrote the story for him. The premise is his; but the writing belongs to someone else. I can't give a shout out to the person right now because I sold out of all the copies of cover girl that I had and I didn't get a chance to review the copyright line and I didn't get her permission yet to shout her out. Currently I'm reviewing Mercy, Mercy, Me by Ronn Elmore which is due out in October. His book was also 'ghost written by someone else.' Although only his name appears on the bookcover if you read the copyright line inside it states: Ronn Elmore and Victoria Christopher Murray. Why ghost writers for either of these non-fiction writers? Because they have the name (and HUGE followings) but not necessarily the ability to write a compelling fictional novel. I haven't read Cover Girls (I only find out yesterday who the ghost writer was and actually had I known earlier I would have kept a copy of Cover Girls for me because I like the ghost writers writing style and would have loved to read what she had written for Jakes). At any rate I'm looking forward to reading both books and checking out the works of two of my favorite christian fiction authors. |
