Hey hey hey now!! I am back from BEA and am still feeling the after-affects of all the walking, networking, talking, and carrying bags of books around. It was so wonderful putting a face to the names of all those of you who frequent the AALBC boards. Troy, Thumper, Linda...it was a pleasure!!! Akaivyleaf, we missed you sis, but you know I'll be calling you up with the scoop in the morning. LOL. I had a BALL!!!
I've only been back about 5 hours, but I had to peek in and beat Thumper to the boards since he said he was going to dog me out. :::sticking tongue out at Thump, even though I know he's still going to dog me out::::
Soooooooooo, for the record, I was in such a rush to get to Los Angeles that I brought NOT ONE picture of my 14-month old sweetie (Joy) and Thumper called a sista out. I almost cried on the spot. *grin* But, for the record Thump et al, she has her own website... The link is below, so please check it out.

What a little cutie pie!!!! My co-workers and I just thought those were some wonderful pictures. Dang Tee how do you do it run and maintain web-sites, write book reviews, and have a family life? You are an inspiration!!! God Bless you and your family. |

You know I had to check those pics out. That baby is toooooooooooo cute for her own good  and those cheeks!
BTW, I'm planning on hitting major events next year, so I hope to meet everyone.

Awwwwwwww, thanks so much! I tell folks all the time that even though she may a be a cutie, DO NOT be fooled. ROFL. She's overly curious, too smart to be so young, and a straight-up drama queen.
Judy sweetie...don't get a beat-down okay? ROFL. She is a handfull for now, so the plan is to wait another 2-3 years.
CMS, your words are so kind, thank you! I should've read them last night to get the extra boost I needed as I worked all day to try to do some of the many things you mentioned. I'm way behind, but your words brought a big ole smile to my face. Thank you. To know that just one person feels that way makes me love what I do even more. <wink>

Awwww.... Thanks for missing me sis... but my Doctor had other plans for me and threw me in the hospital for overnight observation. (the bastard). All is good however, tests came back better than expected so I'm back in business. I did manage to get a book read while flat on my back so that was an added bonus.
As for CBA... Tee knows what I'm talking about. She is truly a Joy! |

I'm SO GLAD to hear this again sis, I was SO WORRIED about'cha. I knew something was up when you weren't answering your cell phone. Now...what'cha read? (I'm glad to see you finished Minion...and I did pick up some books for ya.)
As for CBA...whew. It's been one of those days. Things are settling down now.
I'm still waiting on Thumper to slam me though. ROFL. I can NOT believe I didn't have ANY pictures on me. Shame shame...

Hi All
Now that I am almost rested from hanging out in LA with Troy and Thumper and walking my feet off at the BEA, I can actually get back to cyber space.
Tee and Yasmin, it was indeed a pleasure to meet the both of you. Looking forward to seeing you next year in Chicago already.
Akaivyleaf - sorry you couldn't make it, but glad to know you are alright. You had me worried. (hospitals...yuck)
Kola - believe it or not I looked for you (was watching my back - smile). Even thought I saw you once. Where you lurking the halls?(laugh) Anyhow, Congrats to you and Thomas' for getting another bun in the oven. (lol)

Linda, thanks so much.
I wasn't there. The MacAdam Cage dinner party asked me NOT to come, because two of their top authors (both white women) feared that everybody's life might be in danger if I came.
The United Nations had just "confirmed" that a Sharia Court in Sudan put a fatwa death contract on me. This news came just as the BEA was starting. I was very shocked myself by the U.N. Report, because I had never seen the court verdict--guilty of treason, to be beheaded.
Frankly, I was glad not to go.
But I did feel sad that I missed meeting you and Troy and Thumper. Months ago...Troy and I had agreed that I would come and meet you guys. That was before we all fell out.
I feel so sorry about that and I have been praying that in time, you will all grow to like me and understand me. I really am a good sister to have--I'm just different.
I can almost guarantee that I will have to go to Chicago.
But thanks so much, Linda. You're very kind.

Bye the way, Susan. I had a terrible fight with Whoopi Golderg the other day. She doesn't want to be called "African".
I'll tell you all about it after I speak to my lawyer about what I can and cannot reveal. But I assured her that I could set her down on any street corner in Africa...and the natives would come up and ask her for directions.

Linda, the feeling was mutual!! I had a great time. Next year, I'm going to rest up BEFORE I get to the event. I was having major jet lag and was too pooped to party.

I hear that the convention center in Chicago is much more compact than what you all experienced in LA, which should mean a lot less walking but more crowded digs....

Bet Linda! (Do folks still say "bet" or is that out-dated?) ROFL.
And Sharon, I'm glad to hear that it's more compact. I made a few calls earlier this week and whew...the room rates are even higher than in L.A. I may have to rearrange our timeshare so that I can use that in Chicago.
