How do you guys feel about reading anthologies? I'm noticing a lot out right now, or either in the works. For those that read them, what are your favorites? http://www.michaeltowens.com |

Hey Michael, normally they're BABs, so I don't read them. I do however collect them and think it's cool to have a collection of works by various different authors in one book. I think the last one I read was Black Like Us and I'm looking forward to reading Proverbs for the People that comes out next month. Most times, I'll skim through and read a story here and there in them, but as I said in a previous post, they leave me wanting more. It's like having a taste of something you like, but not the full-sized portion. -Tee |

MIchael: I like anthologies. You can get one surf through and when you find authors you like you can check out the restof their work. Favorites? So many--POETRY OF BLACK AMERICA, BLACK VOICES, IN THE TRADITION, that anthology of short literature Terry McMillain did a few years ago(Breaking Ice?), DARK MATTER, The various NORTON ANTHOLOGIES, FLAVA (oop! That ain't out yet) |

Well, Michael, I don't know if I'm a fan of anthologies or not - because I've never read one. I just can't get into short stories. Which is strange because I recently tried my hand at writing one and answered Brandon Massey's request for submissions to be considered for a Black horror anthology he's compiling. |

I can't believe Kola Boof hasn't stopped in to hype her upcoming anthology. I'm shocked. Also noticed she wasn't named on the "list your favorite web site" thread. knock on wood

Michael, I like anthologies. I am currently working my way through one called Gumbo. I think of anthologies as a buffet...you get to sample many different writers. For some writers that sample is enough but for other writers you need more, so you seek out their full length books or their other works. Susan |

Michael, I also like anthologies...for the same reasons Chris H. and Susan have delineated. |
