As the story unfolds reader are drawn into the unapologetic reasoning that makes stories like this a delight and a much-needed treat. Malena Dawson a daddy's girl, internalized the loss of her father but thrived on the love of God that her parents enstilled in her from early on. However when she goes off to college she becomes someone that even she doesn't recognize, filling herself with shallow misconceptions of life, love and success. When Grant Carpenter a "younger" admirer from her childhood resurfaces in her life, Malena, unsure of the age difference and still struggling with the death of her father, yo-yo's between wanting and denying Grant until she finally pushes him away. Hey akaivyleaf...I read this one last week and absolutely LOVED it!!! I think I'm just now getting to the point where I can put my thoughts into words. Her writing seems to reach out and touch you, pulling you into a world of "sweetness" and it's akin to the peace you feel outside on a warm, but breezy day. ROFL...sounds "cutesy" huh? Well, that's how it made me feel. The ending was heart-wrenching and I like the overall theme of turning towards God first and foremost and realizing that He can help you through ALL things. There was a point that I just knew what was going to happen and she threw something else in the mix that made me almost want to rip out the rest of the pages and rewrite it myself. LOL, then I came to my senses and finished it up and was so touched by the ending. Once you read it, let me know. I'd love to discuss it in detail, but don't want to do it in this post as not to spoil it for those who haven't read it. I think you'd like it though. And, I hope Bloom follows up in the same thread. I was left with such a feeling of peace after reading it. I wanted to run and call my husband and share it with him and to basically reflect on all my shortcomings, all the things I need to get past and turn over to God in my life. Whew...it was a wonderful, soul-stirring read. -Tee |

I have preordered it. I can't wait to read it. It seems like something so different from the norm, at least that's what I keep hearing. I'm tired of the same old stuff and God in the book is a definitely plus. What else has the author written? I did a search but couldn't find anything. - stay lifted |

Her website is at http://www.tanyamarielewis.com. I've read a portion of her other story Bittersweet Chocolate which I believe will be out later this year. She may have more info on the site. :-) I hope you enjoy it. -Tee |
