Eric began his book tour last night in my home town--Durham, NC. I got there at 6:30pm and was number 26 in line to get my book signed. The event started at 7:30pm. Sheesh! There is always a crowd when he comes here.

He read a bit from the new book and answered on few questions. Ya know, I have only read maybe 2 of his books but I always go see him when he comes here. Because he is so funny to me. Not in a loud obnoxious kind of way but in an off-hand-comment-suttle-witty way. I was disappointed that he didn't chat as long as he usually does. Anyhoo, I got my book signed and I do plan to read this one.

Okay Sandra let me know when you start it...I've had this book for over a month to review and I still haven't gotten past the first chapter. I wonder why?

I'll tell you why Yasmin. I read the blurb on amazon and it sounds like yet another so-called story of a super fine, rich, designer name dropping woman with a great job and a no good husband. With some gratuitous sex scenes. No thanks.

au contraire Crystal!
I'm thinking the same thing as you are--but after hearing him read a few pages--it seems to be a bit more involved than that. don't judge a book by it's blurb :-)

LOL...thanks Crystal and you're SO RIGHT. Gurl, I heard one of the APOOO BookClub members recently talking about Someone In the Kitchen by Eric Pete...now this book has been sitting on my bookshelf for almost a year and wasn't even on my short TRL.. but she made it sound so good that I picked it up to read last night and now I'm almost finished with it...hehe. I think I'm going to have to have someone else review Eric's book because I don't want more of the same ole same ole. But then again Sandra I will give it a try and if the first 50 pages aren't more involved that the usual suspect of relationship novels I'm going to have to pass. :-)

You're right about the blurb thing Sandra but it sounds just like his other books - which I didn't like. I still think I'll pass on this one unless I get some good reviews from this board. Thumper you don't count cause I know EJD is your boy!

Okay folks...in the past couple of weeks I've read some 'okay/good commercial fiction' reads but I just had to stop in and say...

Hey Hey Hey everyone...I'm peeking in to say that I finished the Other Woman and I'm spent, drained, wore out...WHEW! OW is electrifying, pulsating, intensifying and ova the top! Just when I had (almost) given up on commercial fiction and relationship storylines, Dickey reminded me that its not the subject matter but the ability of the author to think o/side of the box and creatively craft a storyline that will have you thinking about the book long after you've finished it. Kudos to Dickey for being a masterful storyteller and pulling off (what appears to be) another bestseller!

OK, well maybe I'll check it out at the library. The thing is I don't have a problem with most of his storylines, it's his details that irk me. Everybody's always super fine and name dropping all over the place. Plus I can't seem to drum up any sympathy for his characters - they just don't seem real to me. But maybe I'll give him another shot. Beach time is coming up and that's my favorite place to read.

Still waitiing to hear from you Sandra.

LOL Crystal. I'm not a big fan of Dickey's having read only 3 or 4 of his books, but I did enjoy Between Lovers. I hated the ending, but I thought the story was very well told.

I skipped Thieves Paradise, but I will definitely be checking out The Other Woman. I've hard nothing but good things so far about it.
