Hey, All-- Anyone remember this beautiful book? It was published in the mid-90s and involved a young woman's departure from the United States to live in Africa. I came across the book in a box I hadn't unpacked, and I wondered if there'd ever been a discussion on aalbc. I searched the internet and I was unable to find any other writings by Ms. Ladd. Anyway, if you haven't read this book here is a STRONG RECOMMENDATION. One of my favorites that I've read many times. Bayou Lights |

Bayou Lights, I've read it but it's been a while. And, I agree, I would recommend it, too. I just may read it again this summer. Susan |

Thanks for the referral Bayou Lights, she won the Literary Award for Best Fiction from the Black Caucus of the American Library Association for this one, so I'll definitely add it to my list. I found a bio for her and it doesn't appear she's written anything else other than short stories and essays. -Tee |
