Hello Everyone On my last flight home from Atlanta I ran into a woman that belongs to a book club in California. However, they thought they had heard of AALBC, but wasn't sure. Well, you know I told her all about our little family here. I also gave her the titles of some works she might enjoy. Today, she emailed me with a very good question from one of her club memebers...Do we know of any good childrens books for ages 3-4 years of age? Hmmp, she don't know you guys like I do, of course somebody on here knows about kids books and I know who you are (smile), so please feel free to let the recommendations fly, so that I can hook the sister and the kiddies up in Cali. Linda, I'm still compiling information from various resources, but hopefully I'll be able to answer this in detail soon...but for now, here are books that I'd recommend based upon the reviews from my reviewers. Also, please note that most books are categorized at 0-3 years, then 4-8 years, so some of these are for the higher end. The ones I personally own or read are noted with asterisks. Adler Baby Jesus Like My Brother by Margerey W. Brown *Blue Spots Yellow Spots by John and Jenean Atwood Brown Angels by Walter Dean Myers Granddaddy's Gift by Margaree King Mitchell In My Momma's Kitchen byJerdine Nolen *Isra the Butterfly by Christine Young-Robinson *It Takes a Village by Jane Cowen-Fletcher Just the Two of Us by Will Smith Little Cliff and the Porch Peope by Clifton L. Taulbert Little Cliff's First Day of School by Clifton L. Taulbert *Martin’s Big Words by Doreen Rappaport Max and Jax by Jerdine Nolen QT Pie Catches a Rainbow by Stephanie Sanders Stevie by John Steptoe *The Foods by Miya Lynn McCurry The Hundred Penny Box by Sharon Bell Mathis The Sea Monster's Darkest Night by Meryl Alyse McCurry *The Story of Ruby Bridges by Robert Coles *The Village of Spence Hill by Marsha Sykes *Bippity Bop Barbershop by Natasha Anastasia Tarpley *I Love My Hair by Natasha Anastasia Tarpley *Little Lumpy's Book of Blessings *Please Baby Please by Spike & Tonya Lee *Handsome Me *Beautiful Me Also, check out this link...it may not work, but it's a list of books on Amazon.com for children in this age range. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index%3Dbooks%26field-keywor ds%3Dafrican%20american%20children%20%2B0-3/ref%3Dpd%5Frhf%5Fs%5F2/002-5121593-9 427231 -Tee |
