Hello all. I am currently working on a book about the social and economic issues facing hip hop culture. It is my plan to cover everything for matierialism in hip hop to the right wing attack of the culture. I am having a hard time finding resources for research. I am especially interested in record sales statistics, any relateable news articles and general economic statistics. Any direction or information is greeatly appreciated. |

If you have not tried it, try Davey D's hip hop corner http://www.daveyd.com/ And email him. He's pretty good about getting back to people. Also you might try to contact Kevin Powell. |

I would identify a moment when hip hop was in the main stream news, and then browse the hip hop magazines. You could also check billboard on the net. They may have record sales, and other links |

Hi Shane, Like Chris said, I'd try Davey D's website. His info was very very helpful when I was writing African American Musicians way back when and wanted some authentic hip hop history, and biographical profiles on Queen Latifa and Tupac and the other brothers and sistahs. And is Vibe still vibing? You might be able to access its archives and get info there. |

Though I haven't read it, the March 2003 edition of THE SOURCE is supposed to be a special issue titled HIP HOP UNDER ATTACK--might have something in there. |
