Yesterday I saw a DVD of Martin Lawrences concert performance film, RUNTELDAT. I know Martin to many is an acquired taste--I think he is a little below Eddie Murphy in the hierarchy of comics--he is a little uneven, and seems sometimes just to be out there rambling (getting over because he's mugging and jumping around and making funny faces and cussing at times) but some of the bits are hilarious (the one about the husband coming home drunk sipping a little Courvasier is hilarious). Plus he gives his side of the story of the "troubles" he had--you'll have to decide for yourself if you belive him. He was in great shape, rare form--for afficionadoes of standup comedy and lovers of Def Comedy Jam this is a must.

Chris, thanks for the comments. I came this close to renting that DVD last weekend. I will check it out soon. I also want to see "Signs"

I just saw SIGNS tonight. It was really scary and touching. Lacks a good ending IMHO. It doesn't quite hit its mark, but it's entertaining and above average. Worth watching.

Runteldat should be labled a documentary and not a comedy. It was sloooooow and dull. I had a couple of laughs, one for each hour.

I saw Runteldat finally. Wasnt quite what I expected. I guess Marty needed to do a bit of therapeutic rambling/venting about the world's events and his life events--ok, whatever. You are right, it does start slow for a COMEDY show. I think I averaged about 1 giggle an hour also

I just saw Gangs Of New York today....what a piece of crap, I can't believe it! And to think the Director won the golden Globe....what a joke. No wonder this....this...mess was shopped around for ten years before it was made and stayed in the can two years after it was finished. It had no direction, it was a bunch of campy scenes poorly strung together. From the opening scene it reminded me of a high school play, the action scenes(too many) were way over the top, totally unbelievable. It was a 3HR tiring joke. Denzel's movie didn't get a sniff a this thing wins an award....they need to quit.

You should read the book (it may be hard to find, it was published in 1928).

Verrry interesting.
