I know that I said I was gone (and I am)....but this happening warmed my heart so much that I had to come back and post it.
The First ALL African-American Women Flight Crew On February 12, 2009, Captain Rachelle Jones and First Officer Stephanie Brown Grant made history as the first all African- American female flight crew to operate a commercial jet revenue flight. Additionally, the flight's crew included two African-American female flight attendants, Robin Rogers and Diana Galloway They operated flight 5202 from Atlanta to Nashville and flight 5106 from Nashville back to Atlanta. ___________ Really wonderful positive news March, my birth month, is Women's History Month. My sons enjoyed hearing the story last night. We need more stories like this. Please spread it... . |

What is the point? Think about it. Doing what they are supposed to do? Doing what everyone else does? Or doing something far and above everyone else? Just curious...... |

This story does warm the heart. It is good for children--all children--to see this, when it is likely that their view of folks in charge of airplanes is of people who are male and White. The pilot and first officer will have their names in the history books--as well they should. But it will only be true "progress" when a story like this is a non-story because it is so common. |

It is notable that this rare hook-up was random and just happened to have occurred during Black History month! |

Negative, Chicago control. Rerouting left heading 270, out of three five thousand leveling at two nine thousand. Heavy thermals at 25 miles out. Looks like Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles off the port side. Requesting permission to change course heading. Do you copy? |
