Here is a picture that was forwarded to earlier today. Apparently this is a picture taken at one of the Barnes and Noble Stores.
As a former Barnes and Noble employee I know that each month each store is given a merchandising schematic that you must follow from every shelf and table in the store. I highly doubt that the merchandisers said, "Put up this display and put a monkey in the middle". It was obviously someone trying to play off of the NY Times debacle and trying to be funny. But looking at this picture again, to me it is almost artistic. This is a true and accurate picture of where we are in this society. The most powerful man in the world and art the heart of the display a monkey. We are fooling ourselves to think that electing a man of color somehow dimishes racial intolerance, prejudice and an overall misunderstanding and unwillingness for some of us to budge out of our own stereotypical thinking.
The conversation of race in America has just begun. We have hit a milestone with this election but pack your bags because on this journey, we still have a long way to go.  |

Good point, Cynique. We must also never forget that their are racist and haters in our own backyard. There are thousands of blacks that can't wait for the fall of Mr Obama. I know of a few. |

How did that work out.
Pretty clever. They can put the monkey book in, claim it was a mistake, then start grilling Negroes about what it is they got against monkeys.
This is just the beginning. It will get worse if Obama starts succeeding.

Mochascafe, about a millon people emailed me this photo. I was just about to post a copy here to get feedback, but you beat me to it.
I agree completely with you. Initially I just told people, this must have been staged. I have zero reason to protect B&N, but this display flies in the face of reason.
You can't believe everything you read. Ironically, more reading is what helps you understand what not to believe... |

Obviously some small minded racist cracker pulled this tasteless prank off. There is no way in hell B&N would sanction nor approve of something as inflammatory as this. But you know the dominate conspiracy gene of the American Negro will not let something like this pass without an hysterical rant and whine. Nothing escapes their vigilant eyes and sense of smell. Common sense and logic plays no part in their daily discoveries of more racist offenses and transgressions. |
