Not looking so smart now, keeping on folks from the old administration. Obama is commander in chief. If Petraeus don't want to follow orders he should resign or be fired. Will Obama have the cojones? If he backs down on this promise the Democrats are dead meat in 2010. I believe this is why Bill Richardson backed out. Not the investigation. He saw that all this "Team of Rivals" bs would not work in modern day America--especially with a guy who was too weak to crack the whip on his subordinates. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/02/02/generals-seek-to-reverse_n_163070.html |

Well, keeping troops in Iraq means less jobs he'll have to provide for thousands of young men. Uncle Sam is a reliable employer. |

Not really. The Army and Marine Corps are attempting to increase their man power levels (for obvious reasons) while the Navy and Air Force are currently down sizing. For example, the CNO (Chief of Naval Operations) has stated he plans to reduce Navy man power billets by 69,000 men and women by 2011 (as I recall -might be 2013). They will do this through reducing the number of billets on a ship, raising the bar for the PRT (the biggest way to boot people out), forced retirements for E-7 through E-9 of those past 20 years and revamping the re-enlistment requirements. |
