Hello Everyone Well as you know the north has been getting hit with a lot of snow lately. Here in Indy we just got our biggest for the year. Nine inches in some spots, twelve in others. Schools are closed, some stores and churches. Nothing much is moving as of yet. I haven't seen more than ten cars all day (I've been up since 6am) So, since I am stuck in the house and giving myself a break from the writing until later this evening I was wondering...are you snowed in? And what are doing with your snow day? |

Snow day here. Kids are home from school. I'm writing, grading, doing laundry...and of course, hitting my favorites sites like AALBC, in between. ;-) |

Actually, the problem here in the 'Burgh is not snow. It's freezing rain and icy roads. |

Hi Linda. This is Linda over in Columbus that you met at Brownstone some years ago (that is now closed). Anywho, I played 5000 with my room mate (who kicked my arse LOL), ate crab legs and okra/corn/tomato stew YUMMY, went outside to watch a friend of mine RIP my dam windshield wiper blade that I JUST replaced while he was trying to clear the window of ice, soooo I then had to risk my life driving across a major street ( Hamilton Road) and not get stuck to replace the blade and get charged way too much ( I could have gotten a discount near where I work but it is 20 miles away LOL) then slid home after stopping to get more gas because in clearing the windshield, we had to leave the car running about 30 mins..wait..did you want to know all this..? Oh well I may as well finish, I am now washing and about to read Forever My Lady by Jeff Rivera. I also forgot to mention I also watched a movie called The Reader. Not bad, a bit slow. Also watched Doubt. EXCELLENT. Carey wont like it. Watched 1/2 of The Spook Who Sat By The Door and sent it home with my friend who tore up my blades....who wants to make a copy of it. LOL LiLi |

Hi Libralind2 Of course I remember you. And I loved the food at the Brownstone, I can't believe it's closed. What happened? I was under the assumption it was doing well. Boy, you have had a full day. I didn't do half that much, LOL. I did a little laundry, made some gumbo, played Juma on my 360 and lurked the board between writing. Tonight I am going to finish reading, The Last Prejudice, by David Rivera, Jr., for review. Glad you had a good snow day! Ciao |

My kids had a snow day--and tomorrow will be a 2-hour delay. The whole time we were in Minnesota they never had a single snow day or delayed start--even with below-0 days for a week or more at a time and a foot or more of snow from late October through April!! Linda, I didn't know you were a Hoosier. We just moved back. |

Let's see.....Well...the high was in the seventies and it was sunny all day (San Diego). Got off the phone with a friend in the Midwest and she said they got a foot of snow and it reached the 20's for the first time yesterday. I don't miss any of it...... |

Yes, I am having a snow day of the worst kind. And the white crystals trapping me in my own private world are not the kind that fall from the sky. They are the kind that originate in the depths of hell. Being stuck in the house, imprisoned by the frigid weather and enslaved to the hunger that is eating away at me fills me with despair. This craving for what I am trying so desperately hard to give up fills me with shame and disgust and is not only affecting my health but is taking its toll on my mental well being. I never thought I would reach the point in my life where my will power would so completely abandon me. My doctor, my family members, my friends are all at their wits end because their lectures and attempts to help have fallen on deaf ears. Sometimes I just sit down at my kitchen table and stare at my white nemsises and swallow back tears. I want it so bad. When I have it, the whole world opens up. Without it, I just exist. What can I do folks? I have to kick this habit or I'll end up in the hosptial emergency room. I'm fast becoming suicidal. My name is Cynique. And I am addicted to salt - the substance that is my food for thought, the snow that has sentenced me to a "winter of discontent." I CANNOT DO WITHOUT MY SALT! |

Thanks Crystal and NTFS for rubbing it in! In NY, we got hit with snow, hail and rain these past few days, and the temperature's been in the teen's and 20's all this week. I think the snow and icicles on tree branches are so pretty to look at, but it's a mother trying to get around in all this mess. |

AHHHHHHHHH what sheer and utter bliss...NOT! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!!! NT and JACKIE I WISH I COULD SEND A BIG FAT SNOWBALL THROUGH CYBERSPACE!! I'm about to go outside and clean my car off now. I don't even want to think about it. Early yesterday evening, two angels in the form of 11-year-old boys showed up at my door, shovels in hand...just as I was about to go out and start shoveling ice and putting down more salt. This Florida gal almost kissed those boys! |

I remain frozen in the throes of my addiction. A half-eaten Burger King and an order of cold untouched french fries laying there on my table, the neglected results of my inability to stomach anything that is not liberally sprinkled with SALT. And I thought my dependence on soft drinks was bad. Now that I've seen a black man elected to the presidency and am currently witnessing the downfall of America, I no longer have anything to live for. If salt kills me, that so be it. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow... |

Hello I used to have a garage but I don't now. It's cold out and I looked outside and my car was waving a white flag as if it was surrendering, pleading to get back inside ...poor thang. I have to get back on the road today. My son called and said that he wasn't working today. He works outside. I think I might take him along but he gets on my nerves. He's grown and sometimes he thinks he's my daddy. When we go out of town , he wants to do his type mess. He'll say, "come on dad, let's go to Hooters". See, I ain't into naked women standing over my food. Well, at least women I don't know ...know what I mean? Anyway, as Aretha Franklin said, "Company is alright every once in awhile". I just wonder if this is the time she was talking about. |

"NT and JACKIE I WISH I COULD SEND A BIG FAT SNOWBALL THROUGH CYBERSPACE!! JUST KNOW I'M HITTING YOU BOTH WITH A BARRAGE OF SNOWBALLS IN MY MIND RIGHT NOW!!! LOL!!!" Hey gurl don't forget, I grew up in that weather! In fact, I was just back there last month. I bought a few bottles of Power Aid and put them in the trunk of the car. I forgot to take them out and when I went to get them a few hours later -there were four bricks in the bag! It was that cold! WTFIT??!! I desperately needed to go get some critical paperwork the day I was leaving. The ride was about ten to twelve minutes (driving slowly). The roads were so bad, when I was driving down the hill from where I was staying (a distance of about eight houses including a corner block), suddenly, a mail truck slide out in front of me. When I very slowly stopped, the car did a complete lateral move on its own and I landed up on what was the sidewalk (completely covered in snow). I waited for the mail truck to slip and slide and finally leave when I managed to turn the car around as it swerved back and forth on the iced road (damn -don't ya hate that!!). I was able to climb back up the hill (again, a distance of eight houses and a corner block –I never reached the bottom of the hill), parked the car, called the business and told them to mail me the paper work to San Diego! Dat was dat!! Less than hour later I was on the road to the air port heading back to So Cal!! Ya think I miss that crap??!! Listen Boo, I’ll always be a Buckeye till the end but right now, this long distance thing is working just fine. So stop hatin'! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! |

Carey: I have gotten a new appreciation for my integral garage. While I was away for the Inauguration, 4 water lines in my house burst, flooding most of the first floor of my house. Water ran down through to the garage, soaking all of the insulation in the ceiling of the garage. So...no kitchen, no family room, no dining room, and no garage usage until everything gets repaired. I had gotten spoiled getting up in the morning and jumping in my dry, warm car... The insurance adjuster is due her any minute now...her 2nd visit... |

It remains a cold winter day here in Illinois. But the only precipitation in the atmosphere is the gray cloud hovering over our state capital as ol Cynique watches TV and saturates her chicken wings with salty hot sauce, once again a witness to history as the Illinois senate votes to remove our beloved Governor Blago from office. I find this very stimulating and may go to the mall tomorrow and spend some money, if it doesn't snow... |

LOLLOL Hey Linda, Brownstone closed for a lot of reasons. Management being number one. Cyn..you can break the salt habit. I used lots of salt and sugar a few years ago and I have cut way down. I did it by just cutting down slowly and now it's to the point if I use too much I cant eat or drink food. But it also depends on what Im cooking. Example: 1/4 teaspoon of sugar in my coffee but I used about a 1/2 of cup sugar in the orka/corn/tomato dish I cooked because I like that sweet taste. LiLi |

Hello Okay Okay, I have to make a small confession. Yvettep has shamed me. See, I was on my way to the movies ...right. Then I looked over at my lady and she looked hungry. I said, "baby, are you hungry". She said she sure was. Then I started thinking about my money. See, we missed the matinee so I started counting in my head, all this money I was about to spend. Then I had this great idea. I thought that if I took this women to eat before we went to the movies that she might get sleepy and decide that she didn't want to go. Yeah, some nice sleep producing turkey. So, on my way to the fat turkey house, I saw my boy. My boy the movie man was right there standing outside the barber shop. He flagged me down and said he got what I needed. Of course I said, "what ya got?". He said he had that new Notorious. I looked over at this hungry women and my mouth said, "give it here". Then my pockets started talking to me again. My pockets told me to take the women home and have her cook a little something. I then said to her, "hey baby, why don't WE just go back home and cook a nice meal". I told her that I had just taken out a few steaks earlier in the day ...she loves steaks. I told her that I'd make a nice salad to go with those steaks ...big women love salad, it eases their conscience. So we went back home with most of my money in my pocket. Soooooo, I saw Notorious on a bookleg copy. There ...I said it! And it was terrible *lol* ...really ...terrible. |

Yes, Yvette, I am the type of saltoholic who doesn't even taste food before I salt it. I just know that I'll want more than what's on it. Maybe you could make some dough opening a rehab center for salt addicts. An half-baked idea but anything to feed the starved eoconomy. LiLi and FK both offered me good advice, but - I'm battling a life-long habit. I have to WANT to be cured. I am currently experimenting with garlic salt, so I can at least keep away the vampires who love it when my blood pressure is elevated. BWahahahahah |

hey Everyone Well, the suns out and the roads are much better so I plan to escape for the day. I need more snacks for the super bowl party I am having with my family. It's supposed to hit around 30 degrees today. So, I'm gonna take advantage while I can. Yvettep: Never a Hoosier. I'm an old school orignal Buckeye. A true Cincinnatian! But, I am where I am for lack of figuring out where I want to root myself now that my husband has retired. NTFS: So you are a buckeye too! Can I ask from where in Ohio you hail? LiLi: Management is crucial. Sorry to hear that was the reason. I thought it was a really nice setting and location with commendable service when I visited. Oh, well! Carey: Now you lay off LiLi and the bootlegs. I know it's not right and I should be ashamed. But, I get a lot of great movies from my guy and there is no body standing up or laughing in the background. My Notorious was super clear as was Benjamin Buttons and lots of others. A sister has to watch her pennies these days you know. Plus, I hate sitting in those chairs at the theater when I can lounge at home and stop and start scenes over and over when I miss something. As for Thump...I'm gonna call him later today and make sure he's alright. I'll keep you posted. LOL |

I find that Tony Chacheres Creole Seasoning is very flavorful and has 310mg of sodium about 200mg less than regular table salt And OLD BAY Seasoning has only 160mg of sodium over 300mg less than table salt but very very favorable taste. |

Hello What about a time called now? Whew, the sun is back and the ice is melting. The insurance man has visited Kitty, she has a check in hand. Cynique has admitted her addiction and is seeking help. Linda has called the movers, she realizes there's no place like home. Look out Ohio, here she comes. The economy has forced Yvettep to tighten her budget. She heading out to find her own video man. She's even considering opening her own bootleg movie shop. Hey, a sista gotta eat. Ntsf and jackie are thinking about touring together as comedians. Li-Li has scraped all the ice off her car and is driving to her work place to pick up her last check. She's going back to school to study film while she opens her own restaurant. She's already notified Cynique to tell her that she will not be the lead cook ...you know, that salt thang. A_womon is back at the typwriter. She's writing a love letter to Moonsigns. Crystal is still trying to find the right words to say. Kola is busy stiching her new cap and gown. She didn't have to worry about the cold weather. She's preparing for a little heat. She's having a hard time getting the holes right in her new outfit. She's planning on sneaking into the next Klan rally with hopes of starting her own reality show. Love ya Kola, bend down ...you know them crackers ain't that tall *lol*. |
