Ooooooh what a day! Obama is not moving into the White House, he is moving into HIS house. Maaaayne, this is good television.
I called a cousin of mine and we couldn't even talk. We were both just laughing and screaming with joy. We stayed on line for only about 10 seconds of giddy laughter. |

Well Kola, that was during my Flyboy days. It was in a time and place that was different than I had ever experienced. I was in Mississippi and about to go off to war. Although the sign was not meant for me, I sat down and took the picture as a symbol of "Negro what the hell are you doing here and what are you about to get yourself into". It's a railroad crossing. Yep, I was about to cross into something. Little did I know how big a step I was taking.

I don't know Kola, although my blues may not be like others, I know we've all been somewhere.
I will stand and say "WHAT ABOUT A TIME CALLED NOW"!
I don't look the same and I most certainly do not have the same ideas and attitudes of the past. I believe everythin happens for a reason and god give us memories to lead us to our victories. I can assume that cynics will say "yeah but", however, when I came out of the storm I realized my problems were largely of my making and therefore I had to fix me. Now that is a tough task because I had to admit that I didn't know everything and that I was wrong on several issues. I have not arrived but I think I am a better person than I was years ago. I am cool with my place in life. I have little regrets. There was a time when I found little joy in most things in life. I lost my ability to laugh. I lost hope. In my struggle to remain alive (alive and not just surviving) I had to go deep inside myself and find core issues that few wish to look at, let alone try to amend.
I am not different, I have just traveled a different road. |
