Hello Everyone As some of you may remember I was working on a true story that happened in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. Well, I have finally finished it and am in the process of setting it up for print. But, I am a little displeased with what I have so far for a working cover and title. I need something to really pop when it hits the shelves. I am hoping that one of you has a creative imagination other than scenery from Mound Bayou or the main charactors photo, which is what I have plenty of. But a story this important needs just the right image to bring attention. It's a story of a young man shot over 151 times while hiding under a shotgun house by the state troopers from various counties surrounding Mound Bayou. His intestins and brains where buried on the spot after he was drug from beneath the house and beaten some more. Though this is not all of the story (I don't want to spoil it) it is the gist of it. I can not offer any money for your suggestions, just a free copy and recognition for your imput. |

Linda, you're very welcome. You know I kinda like one of those title for something I'm working on myself! LOL! I'm going to send you an email. Could you tell me the ones you're considering? I'm going to delete one of these posts after you email me back. |

Linda, As I was reading your post, and aside from this hitting so close to home for me, a few thoughts immediately came to me. I don't know the TONE of your book or the style it's written, but I thought... "Even the Night Looked Away" "When the Godless Meet God" "Before I Lay Me Down to Sleep" "Deeper than the Darkness" "Night of the Damned" "The Earth Has a Blues" "An American Son" "White Dog Ritual" **I don't know if you've ever paid attention to the TITLES of my books --but I always make sure they're "intriguing" without telling what the story's about. Stuff like this: "The Secret About Hurting" Gets people browsing the bookshelf everytime. And if they pick up the book and look at it---that's 50% of the battle, because IMMEDIATELY, they're considering it. As for the BOOK COVER---you know the standard rule about "From 3 feet away." So get a really intriguing title and some really EVOCATIVE cover art---and then stand 3 feet away and look at it while it's propped up next to other books. . |

A_Womon I'm checking my email right now and let you know. Kola Hello and how are you? Good to see you're still hanging in there. I like a couple of your titles as well and will be placing them on my consideration list. You're right about the three feet rule...I just haven't found one I like yet. I look forward to seeing what NTFS suggests along with any others I receive. Everyone Feel free, if you would like to send your suggestions to my email or place them here on the board. I am so excited about all the participation so far... please keep them coming. I really appreciate all your help. |

Kola Thanks for your help. It really is an interesting story with such a sad outcome. I'll keep you posted. Once I get a grip on the cover and title it should be smooth sailing and then I can set the release date. |
