. How true. Don't forget "Sasha" and "Malia", the exotic names of Barak's daughters. |

LOL. I love Obamalita!! On the serious tip, Sasha is a beautiful name. Is it short for something else? |

I don't think Sasha is short for anything else. If I'm not mistaken, it's a Russian name that's given to both females and males. |

Sasha Cohen=Borat. LOL. I must know at least five black girls named "Latasha" or "Tasha". We love to put "La" in front of names. LOL |

Obviously a white boy came up with these names. Sisters generally end names with the "qwan" (mas.) or "qua" (fem.); as in Obamaquan or Obamaqua often leaving out the "U" after the "Q". Of if ou are old school you'd end the names with and "ette" as in Barackette or Obmamette. However I think Barack or Obama would suffice. I know a dog named Sasha. I'm sure there are dogs (the canine kind) named Troy too. The same thing happened after the Roots broadcast. The press reported people naming their kids Kizzy and Kunta. I've yet to meet anyone with those names. Though I know a couple of Tobys... |

Troy, all: some are predicting an "Obama baby boom"--9 months following election night: I want to have an Obama Baby. Let me be clear: I don't want to have Obama's baby, I want to have an Obama Baby. One of the thousands of babies I predict will be born somewhere around August 4th, 2009. (Which, a few astute commenters have pointed out, happens to be BHO's 48th birthday. And you know what else is totally nuts? The possibility that Obama was conceived on November 8th, 1960. The night JFK was elected. You guys are geniuses.) http://www.huffingtonpost.com/e-a-hanks/obama-babies-coming-soon_b_141891.html And apparently, there are some confirmed reports of babies named after Obama, though most of what I have heard are in Kenya. |

Sasha is a Russian name and it's an add-fix. In Russia, they name a lot of their girls Nina and then add "notchka". When you put it together, it means...Nina who is loved. Ninotchka. In Russian, Sasha means "the defender of men" or "bearer of sons." In both Russia and in Africa, "Kola" is a popular BOYS NAME...as is "Iman." Both names can translate to King/God/Ruler/HIgh Priest ---but in the last 10 years, a lot of FEMALES have started being given those names. I never cared for the name Sasha, because it reminds me of that dog food commercial with the "Sausage and bits." But I love Obama's daughters--they're so gorgeous and full of life. . |

Yeah, try it... Demi-notchka (Demi who is loved) Susan-notchka (Susan who is loved) Kolanotchka In Africa, they do the same thing with "Nana" and "respect" Nana-Ama (Ama, the highly respect) Nana-Kofi Nana-Sara Nana-Ntfs When Troy mentioned the "ette" that AAs used to add, I wonder if they weren't doing that from unconscious anestral re-memory. I LOVE when they do the "Mae's" Lucy Mae Sally Mae Kola Mae |

"Ovich" is also added to Russian the names of males. I believe this suffix means "son of" |
