Calling All Black Female Poets I am working on an anthology entitled “Queens Need Company” Contemporary Poems By African-American women. I am looking for poetry on sex, love, friendships, self-image, racial identity, men, abuse, but not limited to. Published and unpublished poets are welcomed. I want this collection to reflect the beauty, strength, and struggles of young black women and to celebrate our voice. The goal is to uplift, empower, and encourage. I can not provide compensation. However, I am trying to see if poet Jessica Care Moore of Moore Black Press Inc. will edit the manuscript. I am only selecting 250 poems. Poems will be selected bases on quality, uniqueness, and language. All styles of poetry welcome. However, I ask that poetry submitted be free of vulgar language. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure for your poetry. If you are interested in collaborating with me on this project please submit up to 3 poems with a two paragraph author bio and a cover letter with your contact information on it. The deadline is Feb. 13th 2006. Those poets whose work is selected will be notified by e-mail or by phone. Please be patient as I go through the process of collecting the poems and finding a publisher.
