It isn't enough that Illinois has distinguished its corrupt political shenigans from those of the 49 other states by having a governor too stupid to refrain from discussing his bribery intentions over a tapped phone line, but now we have our esteemed President displaying his agile reflexes by ducking the shoes being thrown at him by an Iraqi journalist, a sight providing us with a welcome shot of comic relief to take our minds off the bail-outs being doled out to the corporate giants who are lining up like ghetto have-nots applying for welfare.
What has this country come to? Is the handwriting on the wall? Is life as we know it gradually morphing into an existence where desperation will replace democracy, - where the United States of America will disintegrate into the Untied States of Emergency?
Guess we just have to hope that Obama and his team don't turn out to be inmates running the asylum... Maybe Brad and Angie could pool their assets and adopt the country. Jay-Z and Beyonce could be the godparents, Oprah the nanny, and Bill Gates the rich uncle. Stephen Spielberg could even make a movie about the American dilemma; it will, of course, be a comedy.  |

(All this was bound to happen. It's just that George W. Bush, in an astoundingly ham handed and bullheaded way, accelerated this inevitable chain of events.
I see several years of disorder. Obama will, at best, be able to tread water. So will whoever follows him.
Within 20 years people will be crying for a man on a white horse to come in and restore order through any means necessary.
And then we will have Caesar. Get ready to do some real bowing and scraping. |
