I've met a number of Tuskegee airmen before. It's an honor to met the remainder of these American heroes. I also seen General Benjamin O. Davis Jr. (the Tuskegee Airman 332d Fighter Group commanding officer) in person. I was supposed to take my book (his autobiography) to his hotel room the next day and have him autograph it. I failed to do so. I regret that to this very day. Thank God I taped his lecture. When General Davis retired in 1970, he held the rank of Lieutenant General, but on 9 December 1998, President Clinton awarded him a fourth star. This raised him to the rank of full general of the US Air Force. He passed away 04 July 2002.
