Barack Obama, John McCain and the Language of Race http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/22/opinion/22observer.html?_r=1&pagewanted=print& oref=slogin "...The throwback references that have surfaced in the campaign suggest that Republicans are fighting on racial grounds, even when express references to race are not evident. In a replay of elections past, the G.O.P. will try to leverage racial ghosts and fears without getting its hands visibly dirty. The Democrats try to parry in customary ways...." Again, it is no surprise that the Obama's, our, opponents will use race to dupe the masses of white folks dumb enough to fall for it. I've said on a few occasions here on this board that I'm voting for Obama simple because he is Black. However that was not the only reason. If you look at that cat Paulson in the treasury -- a guy I've met (and once cautioned to stop referring to Black people a "Afro-Americans". Can we really trust that he has out best interest at heart or is he like the rest of those deeply rich white guys running our country who simply protecting their own intersts at OUR (poor and middle class folks of all races) expense. When you get right down to it I don't trust any of them. Obama represents hope on many levels. Hopefully he will win and be allowed to serve out his term. |

More and more I am clued into something when I see how John McCain, Bill Clinton, and Joe Biden who, as members of a mutual admiration society, have become a 3-headed dragon. These guys are always assuring people that, in spite of their differences, how much they respect each other. None of these old white-haired bastards ever express any high regard for Obama, and it's like the 2 Democrats consider Obama is a bitter pill that has to be swallowed in order to cure an ailment. I am totally disillusioned to the point of being irrational when it comes to this presidential race. I can't shake the idea that, considering the alternative, any white person who doesn't vote for Obama is racially-prejudiced, - pure and simple. |

(I hate to say it, but, with regard to Biden, I told you so. If Obama loses, that (when he picked Joe) was when he started down the slope) |
