(…or, The Beginning of the Apocalypse, take your pick) Start-Up of 'Big Bang Machine' The clock is ticking. At 12:30 a.m. EDT Wednesday, scientists on the Franco-Swiss border will flip the switch on the Large Hadron Collider, a 17-mile underground ring where subatomic particles will be accelerated to astonishing speeds and then smashed into each other. It'll be months before any usable data comes out from the experiments, but the so-called "Big Bang machine" already has physicists salivating at the prospect of unlocking the mysteries of the universe — and many other people worried it'll create a black hole or strange self-replicating particle that will gobble up the Earth. Professor Stephen Hawking, easily the world's most renowned living physicist, came down squarely in the "it's a good thing" camp Tuesday in a interview with BBC Radio: "Whatever the LHC finds, or fails to find, the results will tell us a lot about the structure of the universe." It could be that these clowns are about to unleash the plagues that are set forth in Revelations. Food for thought since all other prophesies are coming to pass; if anyone has bothered to read them lately? |

Disciple, how would this experiment unleash the plagues ? I'm thinking more of an atomic explosion that will blow us all to kingdom come ( well that's if you believe in it). |

Right, Jackie, it isn't about unleashing plagues. The big fear is that this experiment would create a "black hole" which would suck earth into its denseness. (Black holes are stars and planets which have imploded and they exist throughout the universe.) |

This is a first time never done before experiment. What would or could happen is pure speculation; even from the "so brilliant scientist". Even my statement is speculation; since I nor anyone else that I know of for that matter knows exactly how these plagues will come. To a non-believer in God all this is silly talk so if you're a scriptural cynic you can disregard. Nevertheless, for those that read the scriptures and are able to translate ancient Hebrew or in this case Greek (see texus receptus), countless phophecies have been fulfilled after their writings; not all according to the English Bibical Translations. Those that can't, can use a Strongs Exhaustive Concordance (with the Holy Spirit) to recieve a better comprehension of this. God Bless |

The prophecies have been coming to pass for the last 1000 years. This experiment will not unleash any plagues...did you even read the whole article ? It's about activity on the atomic level. Some of Nostradamus's prophecies have come to pass too. Anyhow, believe what you believe. |

How do you know for sure? Just what happens at the sub-atomic level, do you know? do they Know? I did read the "entire" article, and I have been aware of this experiment for over 7 years. But I usually find very little credibility in "scientist". Now if you take comfort in a scientist's theory, God bless you, but I know that most of them are more than willing to kill everyone to discover what GOD knows; The secret of Life. Not saying it will, just saying it is possible! If the Black hole gives you more comfort, so be it. |

One scientist who has been very vocal about his misgivings is Otto Rossler. Rossler fears that there is the possibility of creating a black hole that could over time (his projection is four years from now) "devour" the entire earth. Then there are scientists who have expressed concern that the accelarator might bring forth something called a "strangelet". Truthfully, what I find unnerving is how Rossler's timetable coincides with the Mayan prophecy that the world as we know it will cease on December 21, 2012. Hmmmmmm..... |

The signs are all there. The most notable one is the specter of a Republican victory followed by having an airhead loud mouth taking over the presidency when the old geezer kicks the bucket. |

( Isn't this just great !) Hackers who hit "Big Bang" machine's website mock its "bunch of school kids" security Sat, Sep 13 01:35 PM London, September 13 (ANI): The security of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world's biggest scientific experiment, is in danger, with hackers mounting an attack on the systems of the mega machine. The LHC is the world's largest and the most powerful particle accelerator, located near the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland. According to a report in the Telegraph, as the first particles were circulating in the machine near Geneva where the world wide web was created, a Greek group hacked into the facility, posting a warning about weaknesses in its infrastructure. Calling themselves the Greek Security Team, the interlopers mocked the IT used on the project, describing the technicians responsible for security as "a bunch of school kids." However, despite an ominous warning "don't mess with us," the hackers said that they had no intention of disrupting the work of the atom smasher. "We're pulling your pants down because we don't want to see you running around naked looking to hide yourselves when the panic comes," they wrote in Greek in a rambling note posted on the LHC's network. The official website of the LHC - www.cmsmon.cern.ch - can no longer be accessed by the public as a result of the attack. Scientists working at Cern, the organisation that runs the vast smasher, were worried about what the hackers could do because they were "one step away" from the computer control system of one of the huge detectors of the machine, a vast magnet that weighs 12500 tons, measuring around 21 metres in length and 15 metres wide/high. According to an insider, "If they had hacked into a second computer network, they could have turned off parts of the vast detector." Fortunately, only one file was damaged, but one of the scientists firing off emails as the CMS team fought off the hackers said that it was a "scary experience". The hackers targeted the Compact Muon Solenoid Experiment, or CMS, one of the four "eyes" of the facility that will be analyzing the fallout of the Big Bang. The CMS team of around 2000 scientists is racing with another team that runs the Atlas detector, also at Cern, to find the Higgs particle, one that is responsible for mass. "There seems to be no harm done. From what they can tell, it was someone making the point that CMS was hackable," said James Gillies, spokesman for Cern. "It was quickly detected," he added. "We have several levels of network, a general access network and a much tighter network for sensitive things that operate the LHC," said Gillies. (ANI) |

Gang, About a week ago i made a statement speculating that this experiment has spiritual implications. What was troubling me was the various signs that I saw happening one after another but part of me thought that it was just my overactive mind. Today my partner's daughter had one of her friends visit and they were having a converstaion concerning the matter. As I casually over- heard them mention "666" I asked them what they were talking about and they replied "CERN". I asked the correlation to "666" and they said that their "logo'. I wiki the organization and guess what? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CERN Maybe I wasn't so off base after all, but this is some coincidence wouldn't you say. God bless, we all going to need it. |
